Do let us know how your experiment goes, mine which involved shaking the Mobley by hand ever half hour or so, resulting in the Mobley turning off after a few hours, maybe it needs higher frequency vibration than hand shaking provides.

ATT ZTE Mobley is a Deal???
Let me say I have a Mobley and yes it does shut off after 2 hours. I am not happy about the new firmware controlling the shut down. In retrospect I am not sure this $20 month Mobley with 2 year commitment is such a great deal for several reasons. We are talking about putting the Mobley on a vibrator so it gets excited every so often, a timer so it does not stop performing, and a variable voltage input so it can keep up. All of these work around which may or may not keep it functioning.
You know what going to happen ATT is going figure out this device is used outside the vehicle and change the plan details along with putting out differant firmware to detect usage. ATT is the worst cellular provider bar none but they are not stupid.
I still have a few days remaining of the 14 days to keep or return. This Mobley has been a nightmare from the original purchase through the activation. I did not keep acurate times but I estimate the purchase consumed 6+ hours and the activation process about 7 hours between my calling and store visit. The first order was cancelled which I discovered the next day. Did ATT call me or sent an email, NO. I called them as a follow-up. I spent 3 1/2 hours in a Corporate ATT store with a rep on the phone and tablet trying to get this thing activated. After changing the SIM card and talking/messaging numerous departments with no success he gave up and said his manager suggested opening a new account. No way was this going to happen because I could see that going sideways. So as a last ditch effort I called an ATT number I had and after about 15 minute got the dam thing activated. It should be noted the store ATT rep got the account unfrozen and replace the SIM card otherwise my call would not have got it activated. In fact when I was on the phone in the ATT store getting it activated the person on the other end said the store Rep needed to put in the notes he had replaced the SIM card before she could proceed. Had I walked out of the store and tried to activate, it work not have worked.
Anybody who has ATT cellular service should seriously consider Verizon or some other carrier. I was with ATT cellular phone service for over 10 year and I notice a degrading lack of customer service with a do not give sh** attitude. I say this because in this whole process I was disconnected over 10 times by ATT reps while on hold waiting for them to get back to me. I was with T-Mobile for very short time but they did not have the coverage for my purposes. However, T-Mobile has great customer support. I have been with Verizon for a year and totally happy with there customer service and coverage. Every time I contact customer support I get a message asking for feed back on the quality of service. Never received such a request from ATT. I wish!
Sorry for the rant but it needed saying. If you have Direct TV like myself do not be surprised about your future service or lack of service. Dish is looking better every day. Dish is more RV friendly. ATT you suck.

I have been using a very small vibrator ( smaller than a dime) powered by a variable voltage DC adapter plugged into a smart plug that has a scheduler app for over a month. Wakes up in the morning turns on the Mobley shuts down at night. I set the scheduler to come on every 1:45 Min. for 5 min. Have had no problems or the need to reset the Mobley since the installation. My only regret is having to do a workaround for something that worked very well for over two years. Because it was a great solution I switched the whole family to AT&T. It appears AT&T has a death wish they won't be happy until the government is looking over their shoulder again or their lack of focus on the customer runs them out of business.

Unfortunately, there are five or six Mobley threads running about Mobley in the various sub forums of IRV2.
I suggest you read this post from one of the other threads.

I really wanted the Mobley, tried to order it several times and they accepted my order twice and cancelled it twice. After several agents telling me they couldn’t tell me why it was cancelled, got to an agent who told me it was because my ship to address was different than my billing address, but others have said they were able to get one that way. They also told me to go to a corporate store to verify my identity but two different corporate store managers spoke with the corporate phone reps, with both stores, where the phone rep told the store managers to verify my identity by placing an order for the Mobley. Both store managers told phone rep they couldn’t do that but they could verify my identity and Allow me to place the order with phone rep but phone rep says no can do, the store manager must place order—-getting confused??? So, catch 22, phone reps will not let me reorder but the store manager must order, store manager insists he cannot order!!
So, no Mobley for me.

I had a very pleasant, knowledgeable agent. She told me they would only ship to account billable address. I sent there, tracked the 2 day FedEx, and had a neighbor forward it to me.
This is my 2nd Mobley and both worked out of the box, no trouble with sim or need to activate.
1st in June 17, I bought for $99. This time I went for the free 2YR plan. Have been very happy with the 1st one.
Lucky Me!

What I don't understand is why so many people are going to such extremes as adding an vibtrator, or building a custom circuit to fluctuate voltage when a simple transformer style (old heavy style) wall wart power supply will keep the Mobley awake. Sure if you are boondocking and off grid with no AC it is an issue, but in that case just add a small inverter, sure it will take a minor battery performance hit, but not that big of one.

231 post since Jan 25 and the Mobley I own still has not timed out. I do have the new firmware pushed. What am I doing different?
I have the older Mobley, I have seen them on Ebay for around $65 used which should be the older model. I am sure a new Mobley SIMS card would work fine in them.
I use the 110 power supply sold on Amazon.
I am also using a modem receiving a signal from the Mobley monitoring my MH while in storage. I don't think that is the reason, but others think it might be. JMO a modem is needed anyhow. with a limit of 5 devices connected, that is gone quickly, with 2 cell phones, and 2 tablets on auto connect, MH Vega Touch, Smart TV, something is always having to be disconnected to use other items, laptops, streaming etc. There is nothing more frustrating trying to figure out what can be disconnected to use the 5th device. A modem solved that problem.
The Mobley I own has not timed out every 2 hours, if it does, I will find another device to install the SIMS card in and move on. The $20. a month unlimited data is worth the cost of a working device for me.
For those that can't get connected for a Mobley while others can, I would follow their posted instructions. During the first go round the "Car Connect Desk" was also flawless while other fought the system and lost out on getting $20. a month unlimited data. The program ran out before they ever called the "Car Connect Desk".
The Mobley from the Car Connect Desk came activated and plug and play. Just my success story.

Chuck,, what model modem are you using, and how do you have it connected to the Mobley?

It is the Prepwave that is preinstalled on Entegra MH's that connects the Vega Touch computer system with the entire MH. All of my wireless device are connected to that modem and the Mobley is connected wirelessly to the Prepwave. Any modem that accepts a wireless signal should work.

OK, thanks Chuck. So the Pepwave is a wireless repeater, to receive wifi from Mobley, and re-broadcast a different channel wifi signal, as well as provide a LAN port?
I have a modem, but it is not wireless. Requires the SIM card to be installed in it, and provides a LAN port to connect to a WAP or router. That's what I'm trying to do.

I will have to check if it has a LAN port. I also need to take a photo of the model, user name a password sticker on the front. I though I had that, but I don't. Thanks for reminding me.
