2017 Cornerstone with Salvage Title

Has anyone seen this ad on RVTrader.com?
https://www.rvtrader.com/listing/201...45B-5000350990
It has a salvage title. Has anyone here ever purchased an Entegra with a salvage title?

Advice?

I would be worried about the electronics in the front compartment under the drivers window and the electrical components in the passenger side second to the last bay. I don't think I would want those area's getting wet or submerged.

Also, the plywood that EC is using now on the basement and sub floors is no longer marine grade. If that wood sat in water for very long its probably going to fall apart sooner or later.

I believe that the salvage title will follow the vehicle forever.

I saw this add also as the price caught my eye...
I wouldn’t touch this coach with a 10 foot pole..
If you buy a motorhome with a branded title you are doomed..

You will never be able resell it... I don’t care if it pristine with no
Damage..

People in general see a tainted title and run.. just as you should...

The same coach can be bought for almost the same price with a good title and warranty. It's not something I would chance unless it was a lot lower in price. But that is just me.

Two things, you won't be able to finance much on that and some insurance companies will not insure a salvaged vehicle.

In addition to above comments, I inquired about the hundreds of thousands of vehicles that flooded near my house in Houston and found that the State of Texas will not be issuing titles for any flooded vehicle for use on public roads. Basically they will be part vehicles or as I've seen many doing, headed south across the border. Make sure you'll be able to get a good title for road use first!

I wouldn't touch it for any price. Aren’t these things troublesome enough for you? You want one that is guaranteed to have multiple problems? Not the way I want to spend my days.

Run away, as fast as you can. If it has had water damage, you'll never fill that hole, no matter how much money you throw down it. And the salvage title, even if you're in a state where you can get it revised in 10 years, the notation stays with the revised title. It's always going to be hanging around your neck.

There is some misleading information on this thread. You CAN get insurance for the coach. If you are concerned about the plywood moisture content, buy an inexpensive moisture meter on the web. If it is in excess of 2.5%, walk away. If not, you are probably good.

Fresh water damage in Louisiana, most is brackish or sea water. Where in LA? With this in mind, there is reason for concern in the long term. Intergranular corrosion and corrosion in between the welded joints will be the issue. This is where the corrosion will be unnoticeable. The rig needs a good "flee dip" to neutralize the salt penetration with a base substance such as low percentage solution of backing soda.

Value - generally speaking, the value is 2/3 of low book. Electronics damage? Be concerned about the harness connections, at the point where the crimp on connectors are. Just like the chassis, the corrosion will be most evident here in the future. When - not readily apparent, but it will bite you in 12 to 18 months as it corrodes with moisture in the air and in travels. You can buy contact cleaner and then coat it with some type of protection to retard the progress.

How do I know? I have rebuilt coaches for the past 8 years, not one has come back for a single issue. We replaced the connectors when they went for a dip. I would want to see the waterline level to evaluate the rig. This is a hobby, not a profession. More will be coming out of the Houston area soon. Those will have a higher probability of corrosion damage. It is a beautiful coach, but if it was a hose down, you are going to get hosed unless you do a very through inspection. Move cautiously. There are better buys to surface soon.

The big question I would have is why did the previous owner take a total when he might have been able to pocket several hundred thousand and keep the coach?

I meant the original owner, the person that bought the coach new. Why didn't he take the settlement from the insurance company, then buy his coach back for next to nothing? I did this with a boat I owned. Took the total then bought it back for a $1,000. Rewired it, pickled the engine and ran it for 6 years before it sunk again Bad hull design, but I didn't loose a dime. Sold it as salvage for $1,200. Why didn't the original CS owner do this?
