2017 Entegra Aspire 42DEQ vs Tiffin Bus 40AP

We are considering purchasing 2017 Entegra Aspire 42DEQ or Tiffin Bus 40AP, The 2017 Entegra Aspire for 2017 has major improvements over previous years so without going to the Anthem it seems to be close to the Bus but probably a slight cut below in amenities. The new 2017 Bus has major improvements in front and rear axle rating. The prices that I have gotten for a similar equiped unit are about the same. The Entegra is a tag and the Bus is single drive axles. It seems that both companies have a good reputations for service. Not sure what the Thor buyout of Entegra will have long term or what will happen when Bob Tiffin is no longer able to be involved in the business.

Looking for some comments on quality, owner satisfaction, and any other factors that should be considered. All responses are appreciated. Thanks.

Full disclosure...I have drunk the Entegra koolaid. We loved our Aspire and love our present rig. Probably will get an '18 Cornerstone if they will tweak the "Y" floor plan just a bit. The handling of the Aspire with the IFS and tag will probably be significantly better than the smaller bus. If floor plan and bling are acceptable, I'd go with the Aspire. Don't forget the two year warranty.

this would be an easy choice for me assuming price were similar....I would take a tag axle RV just for handling. I have had both and it makes a huge difference. I didn't know they made a tiffin bus without tag axle

Stew echoed my points exactly, tag axle and 2 year warranty. As for ownership, in my opinion, it's a name change only. I owned a Travel Supreme.....they went broke, I still drove that MH for 6 more years with no problems with the quality. Reason for selling, wanted a tag axle, and residential refrigerator

We have a '17 Aspire on order. Tiffin AP floorplan was in our final three.

The updates to the Aspire made the choice easier. The Aspire actually has a higher rated Front axle than does the 40' Bus.

Really liked the AP floorplan until I sat on the couch. The angles to the TV especially from the middle to left side are bad. Though I figured I could have modified the TV to allow it to pull out and angle to reduce the left cushion blind spot.

I also wanted a tag, would have preferred in in a 40' but only 40' tag that I know about only has 2 AC's so that was not an option for us. That said, the difference between 41' and 43' (true lengths) is minimal.

I would highly suggest taking factory tours and try to drive them back to back.

Even after reading these forums, I was shocked at how quiet the Aspire was.

I was also very happy with tracking with the tag. The other tag coach I drove was nice (much better than our old RV), however the Aspire drove straight as an arrow.

Our first DP was a 2012 Tiffin QKH that we thoroughly enjoyed for 5 years. TMH makes a fine MH. TMH also manufactures things a little differently.

When comparing a 5 year old TMH to a new 2017 Aspire, the following things jump out immediately.:

-Attachment of interior walls to floor structure. EC does, TMH uses a more "floating wall" means of construction.

-Wiring and Plumbing. EC is very organized for the most part and tidy. TMH has room for improvement here.

-Insulation. EC stuffs insulation in the coach like they own shares in Corning Insulation Co. TMH uses no appreciable Insulation in the front cap, and significantly less elsewhere. Our Aspire is cooler/warmer/quieter than our Phaeton by a noticeable margin.

-Feel. While our Phaeton felt very good when parked and driving, the Aspire is a step above. I've driven our Phaeton some quadruple digit mile days, not as much in the Aspire, but even still the Aspire is a bit more comfy.

Some of it is the tag, however the Aspire is much heavier (+7000#) so the tag is carrying some weight. The Aspire gets IFS in 2017, but I really can't tell the difference. Keep in mind, I had made some suspension mods on our straight axle Phaeton and it handled pretty well.

Don't discard the comments because we had a Phaeton, the Bus is constructed in the same basic manner as other Tiffin Diesel coaches. Similarly, ENTEGRA builds the walls in the Insignia as they do in the Cornerstone, and other models in between.

There is more, but I would suggest driving both as closely together as possible. Dixie in Hammond carries both brands, but I'd strongly suggest talking to Angie at NIRVC as she is super nice and is very competitive.

I hope this helps,

-Matt

You probably should post on the Tiffin forum as well to get their take. However, I have known quite a few folks that have had Tiffins and have traded to an Entegra. Don't know any that have traded an Entegra for a Tiffin. May be some, but I've never met them.

Also, I see you live in Kerrville ... go over to Buckhorn and talk to the Entegra and Tiffin owners there .... ask what they like and what they don't. Good luck with your decision! Lynn

While I am not huge fan of Entegra, simply because they do not have a suitable floor plan that we like. It is one fine built coach.
As someone else stated, everything being equal, I would take a tag over a single all day, every day.

At the Hershey show where we were able to see the Tiffin and Entegra coaches back to back and we could immediately see the difference in interior fit and finish with the Entegra being far better. Put most of the blame on the Tiffin dealer for poor show prep but I couldn't justify that kind of money for what we saw.

I've had both brands. The Entegra is the superior product.

As Pat stated we have also owned both brands with Entegra placing head and shoulders above Tiffin in many ways.

We had a 2009 Tiffin bus, 43 ft tag. Now in a 2015 Anthem.
The ride and handling on the Anthem is far superior to the 09 bus. Add the insulation and quite factor, and there is a night and day difference when driving them down the road.
Have a friend in Tennessee who just traded his 14 bus for a 17 Anthem, he says the same thing. A true pleasure to drive, and far superior to the bus.
The "wind push" when passing big trucks is basically non existent in the EC compared with the 09 bus I had.

The insulation also makes them heat/cool easier, and quieter inside as far as outside noises.

Outside paint quality on EC is , in my opinion, the best in that price range.

The 2 year warranty was also a factor, and so far, EC has been great with any needs we have had.

I also agree with things everyone else has said. Including posing the same question on the Tiffin site, as I am sure Tiffin owners have a reason they chose them.

We liked our Tiffin, not bashing them, just pointing out differences.
