2018 Aspire Changes
I got information on the upcoming changes for the 2018 Aspire. Most of it good additions, but there are a few questions.
Most significant is that I previously heard the Aspire would have four L16 AGM batteries. The option list I got said two additional AGM batteries for a total of four is a $1642 option.
One of the changes is "Deleted DVD in infotainment center." So how now would DVDs get played on outside TV? How to play CDs when driving since other players are not accessible with slides in?

On the 17s the CD player is in the overhead above the driver, not actually near the infotainment system in the dash. Its placement, and the fact it only holds one CD, makes it virtually worthless for use while driving. Put your music onto a digital device and plug it into the dash USB port.

Even on my Classic 2014 with CD/DVD player in the dash and outside radio. All of our music is on USB drives. We don't even carry the CD's anymore. In the TS we had and entire cabinet full of CD's. Now, it's all on a one inch thumb drive. I made two copies, one for inside and one for the outside player. Technology is great, it sure saves space.
I only use my outside DVD player to play a screen saver of fireplaces. If I didn't have it I wouldn't miss it. I sure wouldn't watch a move out there with the glare and poor sound quality compared to the 50 inch with surround sound inside. If some one wanted one, it would be easy to plug in a $49. DVD player, it will fit standing up behind the TV.

Good advice. Even luxury cars are no longer coming with CD players. With the advent of MP3s, smartphones, Pandora, Spotify, etc, CDs are going the way of 4-track tapes.

Yep surprised me that my new pickup truck did not come with a CD player. Now I know why, all the free apps, I haven't missed the CD player at all.

Good point about music and single CD. However my most use of the CD player is books on CD. Really helps on the long drives. Now with books on CD coming in MP3 format it is possible to get books on a single disc.

I use Audible to download audio books to my iPhone. Works great and the books are always with me wherever I go.

X2. Audible is great!
After 3 years of plugging my phone into the wire in the drawer (and adding an adapter for an iPhone 6) I discovered, thanks to this forum, that I can stream audio via Bluetooth to our dash stereo. Now we do it with my iPad which means no more phone calls over the stereo.

Jerry, it's also possible to load 100's of books on a small USB drive. I wonder if it would catalog the books like it did when I copied my music CD's?
