295's on Aspire Drive and Tag Wheels

Has anyone placed 295 tires on the tag and drive wheels of an Aspire? The Aspire comes with 275 tires (other than the steer) and I wanted to know if I could upgrade to 295's and if they would fit. Entegra and Spartan didn't seem able to answer this question.

It depends on the wheel rim size. To relate that to our previous 2007 Allegro Bus on a Spartan chassis - it came with 275 tires all around. In 2008 Tiffin had weight issues on the front axle and went to 295 tires. But the 275s came with narrower rims (7.5" if I recall, but don't quote me because it's been a while and my coach is now sold). The 295s required a minimum of 8" rims (again, best recollection of the number) so anyone who wanted/needed to upgrade had to do the rims as well as the tires. In later years Tiffin ran the wider rims all around and 295s weren't a problem.

Actually, I don't see the need for it on the rear axles. 275s are more than adequate to carry the weight on a drive or tag axle with plenty of room to spare. Plus, 275s are more popular in trucks than 295s so it'll be easier for your road service to find a 275 tire if you have a failure while traveling. You might think it's easier to be able to rotate tires if they are all the same but tread wear has never been an issue because they die from old age first and don't need to be rotated.

So, yes, if your rims are wide enough you can do it but I'm not sure that you need to.

Don't know if this helps or not, but I have an Aspire with 295s in back and 315s in front...but it is an IFS. Obviously, the body will take the larger tires, but do you have the wheels which will accept them?

Changing to the 295 will change the circumference of the tires making the speedometer inaccurate. Not a big deal as your GPS will suffice for determining speed.

If you are towing near the capacity of your coach you will be placing extra strain on the drive train (transmission, rear end and drive shaft). Not a lot mind you but it could be problematic.

The slight difference in diameter won't make much of a difference, most likely no more than 100 RPM. That won't noticeably affect towing or performance but it will throw your speedometer off a mile or two. You can have the ECM reprogrammed to the new tire size to correct that.

295's on Aspire Drive and Tag Wheels

The rims will accommodate 295 tires. My concern was clearance on a Mountain Master GT chassis. I have learned that 275's are much better for trade in than 295's as they are a more popular size for truck trailers. I know that I can get $250 trade in for the 295's (because they are almost new) but possibly more for the 275's. The only reason that I am considering changing tires is that I have had really bad experiences with Goodyear tires and their customer service. I will definitely change out the front 295's to Michelin 295's as soon as possible but may wait on the drive and tag. Thanks for all of the replies!

295s are used on MMGT chassis on other models so you shouldn't have a clearance problem or dual spacing issues.
