40' Aspire rigs

Still looking for that elusive first motorhome at a 40 max (couple of inches over is OK). We are looking at the Aspire 40 rigs from 2010 to 2012. Entegra offers the transmission selector and air brake release on the right side of the steering wheel. That is something I need (I have a handicap).

Did Entegra drop the 40 line because of front GVWR issues, CCC issues, marketing issues? Those that own these 40 units, is anything you would like to share with us?

Thanks in advance.

Their market gravitated to the 40+ for a heavier tag axle RV. They added the weight and needed the capacity to put in all the gizmos for the market they wanted to compete in.
FYI, if you look at the Aspire vs the defunct Insignia you will see virtually no difference in construction and amenities...only a list price difference. I was told by Entegra they were losing $40K on every Insigna made because of their pricing structure, so they were discontinued.

FYI

I was just at OrlandoRV (RVOne) for service of my coach and saw a 2011 40' used Aspire and a new 2012 40' Aspire they have for sale.

2012 Aspire will have the Spartan Chassis with a huge 450hp engine. That would be a rocket!

We've been talking them. Would liketo hear what owners have to say.

We are very happy with our 40 footer. There were some concerns about weights etc so we upgraded the front tires to 295 which really helped. The front axle turned out to be higher rated than previously thought which also helped. Our CCC is about 3000-3500 lb. Construction wise a 2012 40' Aspire is tough to beat. It drives like a dream with power to spare. I routinely get 8.5 to 9 mpg towing a 4500 lb toad and 62-65 mph with cruise control on. If you like the layout of the 2012 40' Aspire I would get it out for a test drive ASAP. Our layout (40DRQ) is perfect for us and features a separate toilet for privacy. I hope Entegra goes to that layout in their 42' tag coaches soon since we hope to move up in a few years to an Anthem (and aren't positive we want the 45').

By the way, with the Spartan chassis and the 450hp engine on the 2012, I strongly advise you go that route vs. an older Freightliner unit. We looked at a new 2011 Insignia before we bought our coach. Same layout as ours, but for $35k more we got the Spartan chassis, 450 vs 380 hp, Aqua Hot, and a residential refer. It was a no-brainer for us.

Thanks for the information.
I didn't know of the chassis change. We do like the 40 DRQ layout.
AND I like HP. Torque too.

What layout is the unit at RVOne? If it's the 40DRQ jump on it since I'm assuming you won't find them anywhere else except used units. Then again I haven't been looking

You will not find a smoother, quieter driving 40 foot non-tag out there! I've been in other 40 footers and there's no comparison.

No idea. Weighed all four corners loaded and well within limits. Wife let me get it to humor me. Now her idea to move up to a tag axle. Great power and better than expected fuel economy. Just back from a local 400 mile roundtrip and looking forward to another 2200 mile trip in April.
