A/C Magnets Failing

When viewing the Entegra coaches, I noticed one of the coaches had a stack of magnets on the kitchen counter (at least 20). I think we've figured out why...we've had the adhesive release on 3 magnets from the plastic vents in 3 weeks and we haven't even started to pull them down to clean the filters yet. We noticed the first vent missing when we opened the slide (and found it had fallen on top of the slide) and another vent was laying on the bed. Obviously the glue/epoxy Entegra is using is not working as planned. Does anyone know what will be a PERMANENT fix to attach the magnets to the plastic? I don't want to load them up with adhesive only to have to clean them off again and try something else.

E6000... Best glue ever, still stinks and is flammable so leave it in a compartment with ventilation and no sparks while it dries.
WalMart in crafts...Michaels...Amazon. IT WORKS!

I had the same problem with magnets I attached with JB weld. The one with Gorilla glue is still holding.

HA! A Classic trick that will work on a new model
I did the Pat Bauer mod on the A/C vents using epoxy...it didn't hold up either. I purchased a bottle of Weldwood Contact Cement with the brush in the Cap. (Walmart) Ruffed up the vent surface with one of the DW emery boards. All of the magnets have stayed in place. I did let them cure overnight before reinstalling. JB Weld I would think would be bullet proof as well, but Bob said it didn't hold.. Gorilla Glue did not work for me, I have not had much success with that on any permanent fix.

Well we removed the magnets, roughened up the surface of both the magnets and the vents, and used the E6000 (found new tube in utility room drawer). Decided to do them all at one time. We are going to let them cure about 48 hours. We will let you know if they're all still holding a year from now.

I would think that a simple hinge with a release latch on 1 side would be the common sense way to go but what do I know.

Actually, the magnets work perfectly as long as they stick to the vents. It's much easier to replace the filters, when you have the vent in your hand (I'm only 5'-6"), and by removing the vent completely you can also wash it in the sink. IMO, but not arguing

In the event the other stuff doesn't work you might try 3M Body Molding Tape. It's double sided and comes in a thinner version at most auto parts stores. It's what holds all the trim on the outside of cars.

A tip for your vent filters. The factory filter are not very efficient. A couple of packages of these are much better filters. Hammered into my head from my commercial A/C technician. 4 in. x 12 in. Vent Filters (12-Pack)-WVENT - The Home Depot

Having two sets, one to change, the dirty ones throw in the washing machine. They will have to be trimmed to fit, a very sharp knife will trim 4 stacked up with the factroy one on top for a pattern. Have two sets make changing the filter go much faster.....no washing them in the sink and waiting for them to dry, plus better filtration.

Sounds like a great idea! I'm on my way to Home Depot!
Thanks!
