After all this time ... Doh!

After about four years of owning our 2012 Aspire and reading this forum about the do's and don'ts, I'm finding myself a little embarrassed. Yesterday we arrived at Fort Wilderness (WDW) and when I went to put out my passenger back slide out ... the motor just turned and nothing happened. Immediately my wife thought something was drastically wrong, but I assured her that I had read about a pin shearing on the slide outs in this forum! Now that might sound good, but she casually reminded me or should I say asked me 'then why don't you have any spares?' Great question and now I had to come up with some real good answers. Well I could not, but I did come up with a great short term solution, and oh by the way really impressed her. I remembered I had some spare pins for my Blue Ox tow package (the ones that lock the pins down on the tow bar), and I was able to use this as a temporary fix.

So long story short, if you are still looking or asking what you should have for spare parts....remember the pins!!!! My next step is to call Entegra CS and order the pins, two new motors for the blinds, and three new running lights.

Hope to see you down the road!!!
Thank God for this forum.

We'll just call you McGyver!

That is exactly what real mechanics do. Improvise when you don't have the exact part.

1 1/2 inch 5/16 inch bolt will do in a pinch as well...more likely to shear than a shear pin...the real question needs to be what was causing it to bind, unless you simply pushed it too hard against the stops (end of cycle).
