All you really care about is the difference, nothing else matters at the end of the deal.

X2 or 3 for us. We told them we were walking on to talk to other dealers and when they realized we were serious, they got serious. If you can get them to be serious, you can enjoy the extras, but they sure aren't worth $35,000.

I suspect one issue is that they have so many folks who come in there, that someone will buy at a higher price than they need to so it's to LD's benefit to wait.

Exactly, Ranbey!

For 35K you can take any club you've got and keep it and I'll take the 35K and find my own club! That is NOT a selling point or deal maker at LD at all. Don't know why they are trained to try and sell it.

Remember that the MSRP or the trade in value mean nothing. You get a great deal on the new coach the trade is worth squat. You want to get top dollar for your old cream puff be prepared to pay through the nose for the new one. It is the difference you need to be concerned with. What does it matter if you get 100 grand and pay 400 or get 200 and pay 500 you are still 300 big ones out of pocket.

^^^ Exactly. With a trade, there is no need to hide it during negotiations. I just go in and tell them up front I'm a "difference" buyer. That gets rid of all the you know what. I don't care what they value my trade at, I don't care what the selling price is. All I care about is what the difference is. Any buyer should have that number in their head already before stepping into a dealership.

Exactly - We started with a difference in our minds and negotiated from there. Final deal was almost $25,000 less than their initial offer and about $7,000 more than my target.
