AGS question
So we are about to fly home for Christmas and leave the coach in Florida hooked up to 50a service at our RV Park. I thought as a precaution against batteries discharging and suffering damage if for some reason we lost A.C. power I would enable auto gen start. So I enabled AGS and selected the battery level option with quiet time. However the generator started right away so I assume if AGS is enabled the generator will start for purposes of charging batteries even if A.C. power is available. Is this how it works? If so I guess I will just rely on the Park power and maybe ask them to check my pedestal from time to time. Does anybody have any other ideas?

By any chance, was it warm enough (or cold enough) that your AC units would have been calling for power? If so, on some models, that will trigger the genny on right away. Same true for Heat pumps.
I assume that you disconnected shore power to see what happens in a power failure, or maybe you never got that far.
I would also suggest, regardless, of talking to your neighbors, if they are permanent residents, and ask then to call you if they hear the genny running at any time.

Bill, there is a flaw in the vega touch version you have. Call firefly and get an updated panel sent out. This was an issue for us also back in the spring of 2017 with our coach. I do not remember the version number. As a side note, for $450 you can get the 2018 version of the panel from them. I've not had any issues with the 2018 panel in my 17'.

Suggest you look at your battery terminals.
I had a similar problem - batteries showed charged but yet the AGS came on.
What I learned was the battery terminal the AGS system was connected to was cruddy. (It was a the rear battery in the slide out). The terminal was cleaned up and solved the problem.
Good luck.

I had exactly the opposite experience. I enabled AGS, unplugged power and turned all HVAC/heat etc to manual. VT registered that AGS was on, but never came on at the preset voltage. My batteries were dead. Somehow VT lost the command. VT touch panel is new, updated in August

Another option to consider since you probably don’t need AC running would be to turn off the inverter so the batteries don’t get drained. In cooler weather the refrigerator will hold temp for several hours.

Hopefully next time with an updated system I can have a little more comfort leaving the coach unattended. Have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year and thanks for advice!
