My understanding is that only the LP AquaHots needed the baffles and only the LP AquaHots are propane and only the Aspires were routinely equipped with Propane AquaHots on the classics. Now, You say that your AquaHot is a 450D which is a diesel AquaHot, which does not need the baffle. If you, in fact, have a diesel AquaHot, then I believe that your coach is a rarity indeed and while you somehow got a diesel AquaHot into your coach, then the factory guys didn't give you the diesel exhausts pipe, and so, you have the LP AquaHot exhaust pipe baffle. Those are all suppositions, but I would guess pretty good suppositions.

If your Aspire has a 450D it does not need the baffle. I was told that the LP burner needed the baffle for back pressure to work properly. The diesel burners do not need the baffles. A few of the Aspires did get a 450D. Possibly someone on the line saw it was an Aspire and put the baffle on thinking it had an LP Aqua Hot.

I called AH today and they had already closed, but sent an e-mail with the details about the baffle with my image in post #1 to see what they recommend, and would the small motor cycle baffle I found on-line work. Will post the results once I hear from them.

I look at the 400LP installation manual and it discussed placing the baffle shown in the picture above 1 inch from the end of the exhaust tip. The 450D installation manual made no mention of it.

The LP models have a exhaust hid pressure switch in them. Did not look up to see if it is in the 450D model.

I do not have the baffle on my Aspire and I my aquqhot did not light off while I was driving this past weekend.
Looks like will get the baffle. It was chilly on the drive

I think Gary and Chuck are right - the guy installing the pipe tip used the usual Aspire tip. It's definitely a diesel AH, so no baffle when I replace it. I have the tip, just no coach to put it on.

Below is the response from my e-mail to AH about the baffle:

Hello Mark,

The recommended exhaust size is 2”. We use the Propose tip in order to keep wind from blowing into your unit and extinguishing the flame. I am however unfamiliar with the baffle you are referring too as we have not worked with them previously. I could not advise if that would work with your unit or not as that’s not a part that has been tested with the propane units. We do sell those propane exhaust tips, cost on that would be: $15.75 Plus shipping. For operational and Diagnostic purposes I would stick with the Exhaust tip provided by Aqua-Hot.

Not clear if the price quoted is for the whole exhaust tip, or just the "baffle tip"? I am going to take mine off when I get home and see if I can have a stainless version made that will be a custom fit like Chuck mentioned.
