Aluminum wheel care

First question, are the 2017 Anthems using coated or non coated aluminum rims? How is the best way to polish them up? Right now my rims looked water spotted and not shinny like chrome.

Tks

My 2015 has coated wheels but they were looking pretty bad. I used "Mothers" on them and now they look like new. I did go through a lot of rags getting the job done.

The best way to polish them is to have someone else do it! That is the only easy way!

Check to see if there is a sticker on your rear wheels. On the Classics they are not coated wheels. The sticker on the wheels will tell of they are coated or not.

The bottom page gives the explanation of the sticker on the wheel.

I can never find one of the wheel dudes when I need it.

Mothers works just fine. It is a bit of a mess and takes some time. I always remove the center hub as well as the nut covers. Do not make the mistake I did and put a wheel cleaner on them.

A friend on mine that is a "show quality" truck driver swears by this stuff. I have not polished my wheels with it yet, but did try it on the front wheels and it did seems to work well. It is also available on Amazon. What little I did seemed to take very little effort. It's going to have to cool off before I really give it a test. Metal Polish - Polish Metal, Chrome, Aluminum, Brass, Plastic | California Custom Products Inc.

If wheels are coated, there is no way they can look bad. I was also led to believe my wheels were coated...not. If you can get black on your rag when polishing , they are not coated....darn!!!

I use a Mothers Power Ball with a good 120 volt 3/8" drill motor and Mothers aluminum wheel polish. It takes about 1 beer per wheel All available at Walmart, including the beer. When finished the wheels look great and you feel real good until the next day.

I will be happy to spend the hour per wheel...if my tag hubs can ever be made to quit leaking. I told Spartan that they get to clean them this time. What a pain in the backside!

I hear that! After 3 Spartan replacements, I finally did it myself. Not worth taking it to a "Spartan approved" shop anymore. I know you are headed to Middlebury....be very careful of the replacement there. Inspect the seal yourself before the hub cover is installed. Ask to see the torque wrench being torqued or it will be leaking by the time you get home.

The last was a Cummins Coach Care place...got to Idaho, 400 miles later, and the hubs were overfilled, bolts barely hand tight, and both leaking after being "fixed":(

I'd go to Charlotte, but I was told this last week Spartan is booked through Nov.

What happens when you put wheel cleaner on them? Is wheel cleaner an acid based solution?

Same experience except mine was at Spartan/Entegra. Not over filled but finger tight bolts and they "tried" to use sealant completely wrong to seal the gasket. It's not rocket science to change a hub seal, but Spartan shops seem to have a problem. Charlotte was booked until the end of this Sept. Took me less time to do it correctly than to polish the wheel again
