Anthem 44B Engine Hatch Will Not Open
The engine hatch on our 2016 Anthem will not open. The motor is powered and you can hear it turning. However, it will only open the hatch a couple inches. Once it opens a couple inches, the motor turns but nothing happens. I tried applying a bit of pressure on the grill but it would not extend even though the motor active.
When I push the close switch, it will close and snug the hatch closed.
Is there anyway to manually open the hatch?

No manual open that I know of. There is a post on this forum about pulling pins to get open.
Sounds like your motor has failed. I would call CS.
Hope it works out with out to much difficulty. Kind of a bummer, I think i like the manual lift better.

This was inevitable. Any electrical contraption will fail sooner or later. I can't belive they didn't provide a manual override of some sort. Please let us know how this gets resolved.

Have you tried pushing in "open" button while someone else gently lifts the hatch to provide a little assist?

I have tried reading around while pushing the open button without success. My next approach is the get someone to push the button while I put tow hands on the hatch and exert even pressure.
Sounds like I need to call CS and get there advise on how which pins to pull.
Thanks.

I had the same issue on my 17 Anthem. I could open and close using my hands to apply pressure while DW pressed button. Result, bent one of the hinges. A new motor and new hinges fixed the problem. Good luck.

In looking at the design on both the 16 + and the classics, its a hinge issue to me. My engine door was also hard to open. I could see where either model doors will not open or have a hard time opening. What is needed is lube from time to time. That's what I do and have no issues. Now, there is an electric motor to add to the mix. A better design is needed to correct the issue.

I appreciate your input. I agree, a different design is required. This is going to be a two person operation until I can get the parts I need to replace.

Turned out to be a bent hinge on the right side of the coach. It was bent very badly. Entegra Service working with me to send repair parts. They gave me a drawing of the assembly. Noticed the drawing for left and right part numbers is wrong! When your replace the right hinge, facing forward, you need a LH hinge part number. Anyway, parts in the mail.

Does the 2017s have any sort of manual disconnect or quick releases if this fancy motorized gizmo fails? I'd sure hate to own one of those and have a roadside repair guy resort to a sawzall to work on my motor.

I'm beginning to be happier and happier with my "classic '15" and its flaws

No manual open or release. Carry a sawzall. Didn't anyone every think it would fail. The door on our 2013 Aspire never failed. This one could fail any day.
