Just drove from Big Bend Texas to Carlsbad, NM on Route 285 in 35+ mph crosswind for over 100 miles. What made it even worse was the fact that, with all the drilling going on in that area (Pecos to Carlsbad), it was a horrible dust storm! It was so bad that we had to slow to 25 mph in some areas to see ahead.
All that said, the coach handled the wind fine. Did I feel it and have to make corrections, yes. Was it unbearable or did I feel less in control at any time, NO.
I really don't believe the active air leveling really had much to do with the performance of the chassis in this situation. Normally, I will hear the air system activate to level the coach on unlevel roads or in curves. That really did not occur during this event. Although the Cornerstone is a heavier coach, I think the Anthem chassis would have performed well in these conditions as well.
