Anti-slip shelf liners

I have some Rubbermaid Grip Liners to help prevent items slipping on shelves while on the road. It does say on the label, however, that the grip liner pattern may be transferred to certain wooden finishes. Has anyone had any experience with this product and does it ruin the finish of the shelves? Do you have any other suggestions to use? Thanks in advance for your answer and suggestions.

I use inexpensive indoor/outdoor carpet on every shelf, vertical sides in drawers and all drawer bottoms. Seems to do the trick for me. I use 3M double sided tape found at major hardware stores such as Home Depot to hold the cut carpet in place. That particular tape is gray in color with a red removable liner. Usually found in Home Depot's paint department. The indoor/outdoor carpet is available at Home Depot and Lowes.
