Depends on how much time you want to spend, and where. Mountain Falls in LakeToxaway (865) 966-9350 is a great place to stay BUT it's about an hour off I-26 at the Asheville Airport exit. Also if you are going to be there today the weather is not great and the last 7 miles is filled with curves but the resort is worth the effort.

Thanks, we have decided to go to the new Anchor Down on lake Douglas just north of Pigeon Forge. It is very nice with some sites with fireplaces. All sites overlook Lake Douglas. anchordownrvresort.com

If you ever get down south, as in the Gulf Shores, Alabama area, I highly recommend Bella Terra RV Resort. One of the best RV parks we've stayed at. Of course I'm a little biased, we own a lot there. Unfortunately we don't get much time to use it. Maybe one day.

Have you looked at that RV site on Google Maps using the satellite view?
I'm a bit leery of some RV park reviews because on many I have gone to the complaints weren't justified as far as I was concerned.

That RV resort looks amazing. Thanks for posting, I saved it in my bookmarks for a future stay. I'll be passing through Asheville in a couple weeks and am also looking for somewhere to stay close to Asheville or Knoxville.

If you like Crab Legs go from Anchor Down to Pigeon Forge to Captain Jims Seafood Buffet. All you can eat buffet with all you can eat crab legs. For $29.00 the crab legs are amazing

Two campgrounds in Asheville I'd recommend
Bear Creek you can actually see Biltmore from their driveway.
Campfire Lodgings is on top of a mountain.....and I've been up there with my rig, so not a problem....fantastic during Fall Color.

Use Google Earth. Check "Tools", "Ruler", and you can measure the length of a site.

Haven't used Google Earth very much. I just look at the entire site and get a feel for where to enter, etc.
I didn't know you could actually measure distance that accurately. Pretty amazing technology we have available today.
