Cold here this morning so I put the gas AH on,,,,burner fires up...but NO heat out of the registers. Go through the normal checklist ....no faults on the board, all three circulation pumps are running, one hose is hot, one is not at the AH,,,,ok must have a kinked hose? Check the different kink areas, even pull in the slides a bit to release any pressure...no dice. Speak to Jacob at CS...says all the right troubleshooting steps...but one! Did I give the valve a couple of raps with a wrench! Nope,,,such a high tech fix I forgot about. Three raps later,,,,valve was unstuck and we had full heat.

Take away,,,,obviously give the valves a rap in my troubleshooting checklist but also...although the AH runs on a regular basis with hot water usage for showers (including diesel) the heating system should be exercised as well to keep the valves working properly.

Corey,

You have graduated into the Aqua-Hot Elite Owners Club of people who have learned what it takes to manage their Aqua-Hot with the least amount of problems year after year.

So many people attempt to use the electric side only and end up with major problems much worse than what you discovered. The newest model, 600D, now has dual electric elements which will allow the owner to truly use ONLY the electric for most uses except in extremely cold conditions.

One of the main tools for maintaining the Aqua-Hot is a rubber mallet specifically used to give those stubborn valves a good rap.

Good job mate!

I have a question about those systems. Are they self-contained; meaning is the water in the lines re-circulating, or not? IF so, has anybody had any luck by infusing distilled water into the lines?

Sticking valves would seem to be related to hard water...or am I missing something?

There should NOT be any hard water used with the Aqua-Hot Boiler Coolant. They specifically state to use Distiller Water when mixing the concentrated Boiler Coolant.

This is a sealed unit that recirculates the mixture of Boiler Coolant and Distilled Water throughout the system.

It is possible for the internal HOT water loop to have hard water deposits built up inside the loop. I use a water softener ALL the time unless I am at a RV Park that offers soft water. I've only been able to find one so far on my travels. It's located in British Columbia and found it on my travels to Alaska and back.

You nailed it Richard!
I have a neighbor with AH that had to purge and refill with pre-dilluted boiler anitfreeze (no need for distilled water). Hard water had created little brown crystals that messed things up for him, including a circ pump. $
Soft water also keeps all of the water-side innards clean and without scale.
Thanks Bro
