I would suggest everyone check the overflow tube from the top of the aqua hot to the overflow bottle. They used a clear hose not capable of handling 200 degree coolant

Mine was brittle and broke. A friend who has a 2018 Aspire his just broke.

Go to the auto parts store and purchase 30” of 5/8” radiator hose and buy 2 stainless hose clamps.

This is a problem waiting to happen.

Philnail, what make and model coach do you have? Or, what Aqua hot model do you have? Thanks.

Mine broke just a few weeks ago. I cut it shorter and reattached it. I really need to replace it before it happens again.

5/8"???
sounds big.

Lowe's sells the 5/8 nylon braided clear tubing by the foot that worked great. It will take the heat and not get brittle and crack. I was told by Daren Hathaway, top Aqua Hot Tech, the factory hose should be replaced no longer than a year old. If it's discolored replace, he referrers braided, but carries the clear as that is what Aqua Hot supplies, and it rolls up easier to fit in the truck.

Small world. Just found a puddle of boiler fluid under mine yesterday - hose looked just like the above photo. 5/8” ID _is_ the correct size.

Chuck I would suggest using radiator hose for the replacement as it can handle the temperature. Cost at auto parts was around $7.

Yes it is 5/8".

Phil, I kept the clear hose as I was having so much problem with sludge, I wanted to see if any new fluid going into the unit was changing color. With the heater hose, I could not monitor that. With the problems I had in the past, the first signs of discolored fluid I will change it to Camco Pink. Lucky the 7 hours of flushing ended my problem, but I needed a clear hose to monitor the situation to see if it returned. I am one that still does not trust Century Boiler Fluid.

Chuck, hopefully you don’t have any more issues. Glad you were in a place to easily change the hose and not in the middle of nowhere.

If I was in the middle of nowhere, I would have used Eternabond tape if I had to.
The sludge issue never came back on the 14, thank goodness, but I will monitor the 19 closely.

How would someone change the hose, as a preventative measure, without losing fluid or making a big mess?

There is very little ? If any fluid in the tube.

I have changed mine to the black 5/8 radiator tubing for about $7. While the unit was on.

Takes just a few minutes.
Depending on your access?

Take the hose off the bottom of the reservoir (when cold) and drain into a clean container or siphon the reservoir dry with a turkey baster or syringe. Drain the hose into the same container. Remove hose and replace with new. Pour contents back into the reservoir and check for leaks.
