AquaHot

I was going to shower, and turned aquaHot diesel switch on. The AquaHot kicks on, but in about 20sec the light on the switch goes out, and the unit doesn’t fire up. Tried reset with a paper clip, not sure I got it reset. Any ideas?

Can you hear the burner fire. If it is firing it sounds like the eye that senses flame is dirty or bad. You can pull burner and clean it with a cotton swab.
While it’s out, service the nozzle, filter and electrodes.
You can download the repair manual on AH website.
Good luck

Hi Ike,

Here's a cut and paste from the manual for the 450D:

Troubleshooting Guide

Should the Aqua-Hot Hydronic Heating System fail to operate, complete the following checks:

1. Verify that the Aqua-Hot’s access cover is securely installed. Reference page 7 (part #4). The Aqua-Hot Hydronic Heating System will not operate if the access cover is not fully installed.

2. Ensure that the vehicle’s fuel tank contains a sufficient level of fuel. The Aqua-Hot system will not operate if the fuel level is at or below 1/4 tank.

3. Ensure that the Aqua-Hot’s boiler tank has an adequate supply of antifreeze and water heating solution by checking the level at the Expansion Tank. If the level is low, reference the Care & Maintenance section of this guide for refilling instructions.

4. Check the Aqua-Hot’s electronic controller for any RED lights indicating a fault condition.

If the Aqua-Hot Heating System’s failure to operate is not resolved with the aforementioned checks, please contact the Aqua-Hot Heating Systems Technical Support Department at 1-800-685-4298 for additional assistance or visit the web site at Aqua-Hot Heating Systems for RV, UTV, RTV.

Sorry that I can't offer more.

Good luck.

Take care,
Stu

Thanks gents, I am at Pauls RV service & interiors in Wakarusa IN. I got here after they closed, so I will have them to check it while getting other work done.......At my PDI last year, the tech had to put a new switch board in, and this is the first issue I have had......

Hi Ike,

On that website is this: Aqua-Hot Manuals that contains all sorts of manuals for download in .pdf format.

You might find this website/app interesting: https://www.mycentriq.com/

It's an easy way to build a digital library for all kinds of appliances in your coach (works for your home, too). The app allows you to simply take a photo of the ID plate for an appliance and the app will collect user's manuals, links for repair parts, etc. I've found it very helpful.

Take care,
Stu

Sounds like the "photo flame sensor." Just replaced ours because of the same symptoms. It'll cost you $200+ depending how on if you change it yourself or have some one else do it. Aqua-hot is built from expensive inferior parts. Stay warm if you can. Good luck.

10 to one it is the nozzle. I had this happen last spring. 18 months since I last serviced the nozzle. I carry spares.

Ike, Paul will get it but it could be the thermostat in the unit itself, I had two of the go out just a couple of months apart.

I think you might be right Gene. I flipped the switch about 8 time, and it stayed on. Heated to the desired temp, then overnight it dropped 10 degrees. AuqaHot tech will be at Pauls Monday morning to service it. Thanks for the info Gene. Hope you & Ann are enjoying your new coach.

FYI, when brand new our AH lasted only 10 months of use before misbehaving.

I believe this is related to the pervasive use of Bio blended fuels which tend to foul filters and nozzles.

I feel the 12 month service interval suggested by Aquahot to be inadequate and suggest 6 months instead.

I don't think I would blame the blend of the fuel but rather the provider. Even with all the Aqua-Hot issues we've had we have never had a filter or nozzle issue and we burn blended fuels pretty much exclusively based on the pumps I'm read. Diesel can be an issue if not handled properly. Also if I your rig is setting for extended periods. I think they said that at Spartan class.

With all the talk of A/H issues I thought I would throw this out there. We will be @ Entegra from 12.3 thru 12.12 for our 2 year warranty inspection, upon completion we will be headed directly to Jensen Beach Fla. until April. Does anyone have any good recommendations for an A/H Service provider that could be contacted while in Middlebury during our time there to complete an annual service?
Thanx in advance!

Darin Hathaway should still be in that area at that time - good man for AQH service and repair, but you may have to pay travel charge.

Also I think Entegra will do it in their shop and may be cheaper after factoring in the travel charge.
