Aquahot "burning candle" smell in the coach

I awoke this morning at 12:30 with a smell in the coach that can best be described as like a burning candle - or the smell when a candle is extinguished. I checked the Vega Touch, and the Aqua Hot "Diesel Hot Water" light had turned off indicating the system had shut down. I could hear the floor heat circulation pump was running, but the system had turned itself off.

I turned off the floor heat and went out to the Aqua Hot bay - all lights were green but the burning candle odor was prominent. No leaks were obvious, the Aqua Hot expansion tank was at the correct indication for hot - everything was normal.

I turned on the Aqua Hot "Diesel Hot Water" again, and heard the system fire up as normal. I turned the floor heat back on, and again all is normal and the heat exchange fans engaged properly when heat was called for.

So now I am sitting up at 02:28, babysitting the system which is working normally, and wondering if it is OK to go back to sleep.

Anyone else experience this anomaly?

Maybe, just maybe your DW had a romantic candle lit and you slept through it, and you woke up after she put it out.

Sorry I couldn't resist. Hope you find the source of the odor.

Wouldn't be the first time I missed that boat

I stayed up for a couple of hours while DW tried to sleep wondering if we were ever to awaken again. I explained about CO alarms and smoke detectors but standing watch was going to have to be the solution. About 04:30 I gave in - everything was working as it should and the coach was warm.

I checked again this morning in the light, and all was normal. The best I can figure is that something happened in the Aqua Hot that burned and created the odor - maybe an impurity in the fuel - obstructed the flow of fuel and stopped the burner. The odor would have had to come through the floor of the coach from the Aqua Hot bay. But there were no warning lights of any kind on the monitoring equipment. It will bear watching though - maybe it will happen in the day when things are so much more clear Wouldn't be without one though -

I sometimes get a smell like that from the fireplace if I turn it on after a period of disuse.
