Aspire house batteries

I was looking at the specs of the 2017 Aspire is it showed only two 6-volt AGM house batteries. Is that a typo how can an all electric coach only have 2 batteries I would expect 6-8 batteries.

The Aspire has 2, L-16 AGM which is equivalent to 4 standard batteries. Yes, the 2 are just enough to get by with. They have to do a few things to keep the Aspire price below the Anthem. Those that use battery power often have added 2 more L-16's, those that plug in every night while traveling, 2 seem to work fine while traveling down the road.

What Chuck said. The two equate to about 390 amp hours equivalent roughly to 4 golf cart batteries. Rumor has it the 2018's will get an upgrade option. It is easy to add two more, the space is there.

Has anyone swapped the AGM for Lithium? If so, how did it go and are you satisfied with the change?

If I switched from AGM to lithium batteries I would be satisfied with the change but not the price.

Thanks for the info. I'm wait to see the changes to the 2018. I'm comparing the Aspire to a Newmar Dutch Star and Tiffin Allegro Bus.

Before you lose much sleep over the batteries, ask yourself how much time you spend boondocking.

If you're a frequent battery user, then an upgrade is worthwhile.

As we live in Texas, we routinely use our coach in conditions that require A/C, and the generator. I'm not bashful about being comfortable, and won't sweat while I sleep to save $10 in fuel.

When I was honest, and worked out the money to upgrade, it didn't make much sense. The infrequent use while boondocking, combined with multiplying replacement costs, made this decision easy in our case.

So far, we've not had any issues whatsoever running for days on end in cooler weather, without the generator. I get about 5-6 hours before the AGS fires off when in a boondocking scenario.

Frankly, I'd rather spend the money on a 150 gallon fuel tank, and may do just that.

Not exactly, but here's what you need to know..

Direct from Spartan:

" The fuel tank part# 1083-HH1-001 is $1050. And would take us about 40 business days to get. The rubber isolators part# 0164-HH1 are $5.21ea and available. The fuel tank supports part# 1083-HH1-001 are $79.80ea and would also take 40 days for us to get. I hope that this information is helpful in your puzzle."

Some considerations, the unknown piece is labor. I didn't ask, and don't care as I'd be DIY'ing this. My best guess is probably $1500-2000 in labor and several hundred additional in shop fees, taxes, and Hazmat disposal fees. Figure $3500 all in, as a reasonable estimate.

Initially, I was reluctant to whack the cross members that Entegra welded in. I don't particularly like welding on a perfectly functional coach, unless I really must.

However, these braces are supplemental, and aren't required for anything beyond making the chassis more rigid. I believe I would need to cut a single X out of the center section. My tentative plan is to fabricate removable ends with some serious fasteners, to tie the X back in place after the surgery.

I haven't spoken with anyone beyond Spartan in the parts gathering phase, and would certainly talk to the Entegra engineers in the chassis shop before I made a move.

-Matt

FYI, adding (2) Discover L16's is around $600/ea. + $120 lift gate service + Cables ?? Call it $1450 and Entegras' $1500 option price for the '18s is reasonable once you pay the man to install them.

And that $1500 option would be discounted by at least 25-30% so an even better bargain.
