AV equipment above fireplace?

I am looking for a new rig. I don't have an Entegra dealer locally. So far, my research has been online (forums, video, etc).

I see that several Entegra models have the audio visual equipment located right above the fireplace (on models where the fireplace is mid-ship). The AV equipment puts out lots of heat. The fireplace puts out heat. The heat from the fireplace rises up into the AV cabinet. This seems like a configuration that is doomed to have issues.

Can someone that owns an Entegra with this setup comment on how this works on a day to day basis?

We have this setup in our Anthem 44SL. The fireplace heat goes out in front of the fireplace. The AV equipment is surprisingly cool. We have no heat problems whatsoever in the AV compartment.

I have the Anthem RBQ model and the fireplace heat doesn't effect the a/v equipment on mine either.

Remember, of course, this fireplace is not real so it doesn't reflect heat like a real fireplace. It is very effective at pushing the heat out the front. So much so that I have used some of the space behind the fireplace to put some electronics there, hidden. Radiant heat has been no issue.

No problem here either. The only recommendation is do not leave the compartment door for the audio visual equipment open while fireplace is on, the door does get a little warm if left open.

Thanks for all the quick responses. Does the AV cabinet have mini fans or vents or both?

(Sorry for so many questions. The closest dealers are 8-10 hour drive away)

I usually leave the AV cab door open when watching TV. That way I can change channels with the Traveler sat dish. Never had a problem even when the fireplace is putting out heat. And no, there isn't a fan in the cabinet.

My AV box is stuffed with stuff. It does not get too hot, fireplace on or not. I half-time in my RV and use it constantly with the fireplace on in the winter. My previous MH had the AV box in the front cap above the driver which was typically the hottest part of the coach. It roasted in there. Very happy mid-ship above the fireplace. More room.

Don't know about DISH systems, but with DirecTV systems your sat box will either accept RF (radio frequency) remotes directly, or can accept an RF dongle to allow you to use an RF remote and not have to have the door open. My installer had a DirecTV brand kit with an RF dongle for my box and an RC66RX remote that looks just like a normal DirecTV remote but transmits both IR and RF. If you have just one sat box, the RF remote can change channels when in the bedroom or watching the outside tv.

No fans in the cabinet that I know about. There is no heat problem.

The heat was a problem with my previous coach on the PS in a front cabinet above the windshield and that got hot. It was hot enough to require a fan for the sat receiver or it would over heat and shut down.

The Entegra above the fireplace, no problem.
