Bad hum on House Bose Speakers

We have had a very irritating hum when playing audio throught the house Bose both front and back speakers. Entegra sent us a inline noise supressor, to be installed at the back of the radio where the out to house speaker and rear speaker connect. When we went to install it we found, there are already noise supressors on both front and back RCA lines ... ha go figure... Love to listen to music through the house, but the hum issue drives us crazy! Trying to research more and it sounds like it happens often when ac and dc run together like here with the dc radio and ac house speakers. Please tell me that someone out there had this happen and fixed it????

Inverter/charger often a common of "hum." Not many solutions to overcome, short of turning off inverter--not very satisfactory!

Just guessing..... bad grounding to the power strip that is powering the Bose.... or AC getting through the transformer that powers the Bose, or as some other has said, a "dirty" inverter. If it is the inverter, I would think that this would be something that would produce "noise" on any radio in the coach or anything like another TV, a GPS, any amplified audio source. If this is only seen/heard on the BOSE, I would wonder about something more local. I actually have never looked into this on my 15 Anthem, but often, something like the BOSE is powered by a "wall wart". If it is, and if your bedroom BOSE is also powered by a similar (make sure it is outputting the same voltage as the one you are concerned about) "wall-wart", then you could swap them and see if the hum goes away, which would suggest the problem is in the "wall-wart" transformer. Also, the audio connectors between the TV or whatever is driving the BOSE and the BOSE itself might be loose or not fully seated, and that will also produce a hum.

Tell us when you figure it out.

Gary

Typically these problems are 60htz hum that is the product of a bad ground. Also, an RCA cable could be nicked causing the negative lead to enduice noise. Test by taking a new cable to hook up the radio to the Bose system just running it across the floor. If no noise, that will tell you the cable in the wall is bad.

Check to see if the outside stereo is turned off.

Good idea Johnny - the only way I can turn my outdoor radio off is with the remote. It will not turn off with any of the buttons

I could have missed it but does it hum when plugged into shoreline?

Is the inverter on?

Do you have a dash power switch to allow you to use power off either the engine battery or the house batteries?

Have you checked your battery water levels? If the batteries have been abused they can lose their ability to filter such noise. If your wires are corroded on the batteries you can have similiar loss of filtering.

I suspect they sent you ground loop isolators. Since that did not cure it, it is likely AC hum from unfiltered DC power.

See if you can follow your ground leads from the radio and make sure those connections are good.

If the hum is coming into the DC input you can try an Alternator Whine Filter in that line.,

It's not the RCA cable :( plugged it directly to radio with new cable which was a long shot considering both the front and rear speakers do it and they are on different cable runs. It does it with shore power or no shore power...really comes thru with bass sounds the noise sounds more like when you have blown out your speakers by playing too loud more like a deep rattle. We know that is not the speakers because when not running thru the radio the sound on movies or TV is perfect. Irritating "bass rattle" is a bummer for us we like to play Pandora on Bluetooth thru radio to house speakers.

Doug,

Just to let you know you are not the only one, but I have no answer or dispositon to the problem. We have had the same issue since new purchase, and Entegra has tried to fix it with no success. I was even able to sneak in the Coach during one of our PDI visits and saw the outside vendor/technician had the stereo/T.V. stack items removed from the hutch and he was utilizing a check system via a console/ipad, so I know it was addressed. However, Entegra said all was adusted and fixed, we still have the problem. We thought we might be the only ones to have this audio issue. It is really annoying!

Ron.

Can you provide model numbers of the components used ? If you have any diagrams that would help too. It sounds like something is getting over driven.

The description of a "hum" lead me to think it was there constantly. If only during large levels of bass for example, it may be lack of power at an amplifier. IF the amp in the system uses 12 volt vehicle power the voltage could sink during high levels and cause audio distortion.

So please help define and refine "hum".

Buy running an external cable, you have eliminated the path as being the cause. Did you try hooking a different source into the cabling to see if the noise disappears? By hooking up a different source, I f the hum is still there, that would lead to the Bose system being the cause. If it's not there that would lead to a problem with the in dash head unit.
I was a Bose dealer for many years. Here is an outside shoot; We once went out to troubleshoot another dealers installation that had noise in the system. Because Bose system remote work on RF, not IR, at the time Bose used a separate RF wire antenna on the back. With today's newer Bose systems that antenna is built into the power cord. We found the noise was getting into that system due to the RF antenna being routed along with other equipment's power cables. Noise went away when we re-routed the antenna wire. Therefore it is a slight possibility that noise is coming into the system via the RF remote antenna built within the Bose system's power cable. You could pull out the power cable moving it away from all other cabling to test and see if the noise is eliminated.

Hope some of this helps. It a process of elimination to find where the noise is from. Can be very time consuming.

@YC1 and Whitewater18 thanks for your help...
This really is not my area of expertise, hence the cloudy initial description. Yes, it is exactly like YC1 translated, comes thru front and rear only when audio is passed thru front radio! I am working on getting some wiring info from Entegra. All these coaches have the Bose sound bars all-in one fronts are CineMate 1SR and rears are Solo no separate amps ect. Bose use a/c power and get the audio signal from the radio. Thinking that Entegra had issues because both lines front and rear already have 15 amp noise suppressors from factory and when I first complained that is what they sent me for a fix. Will also try moving power away from others, just not easy everything is built in, tight with limited excess wire. The search for the gremlin goes on...

Spent a few more hours trying everything...no change.
Found out a few things front, rear, aux in and aux out all have the 15 amp suppressors on them. Just for kicks removed the front and back suppressors Ha, did not change a thing! Gotta believe Entegra was trying to avoid something like this by putting suppressors on all the audio lines, but no luck. Two questions has any Entegra owner changed to another brand of infotainment unit? If so, what brand? Others have had problems with this unit wondering if they were trying to make this one do more than it is capable of? Attached a pic of what I am trying to make sense of LOL
