Birds in basement

Our coach is in a campground while we are home for Nov and Dec. The slides are out and the coach is hooked to 50A power. While loading some items for our departure on Friday, I noticed there are small bird droppings inside several of the basement doors; most likely sparrows. I'm sure they're attracted to the basement warmth. Anyone have any insight into what ingress point or points birds might use to get into the basement? A forum search didn't turn up anything useful.

Bill,

I think you will find that this is not bird droppings but mice droppings. Most small birds crap liquid droppings.

As for where they are getting in anything is possible. Around the electric cord, water hose entry, improperly sealed wire loom entry points into basement, leaving the sewer hose hooked up for a while and then trapping them in there when you disconnect it. Through an open basement door and then trapping them inside after. Don't ask me about how I know about this one when I was dumping one night after dark and we trapped a wood rat inside the basement for several days.

I will also go with rodents. What has worked for me is setting off a bug bomb. That does get rid of them.

The droppings are all white, like bird droppings, not dark like mouse droppings.

I always keep a couple of mousetraps baited with miniature marshmallows in two or three storage areas just for peace of mind.

Birds in the basement are a new one on me, first time I have ever heard of that happening.
I picked of one of these in our travelers. It seals the sewer hose outlet around the hose. I would think that would be the likely spot for birds to get in. However with your newer model, than might not be the case.

Take a look for the Geico Mascot and friends. And they can get into anything. And the tail tell evidence does look like bird droppings.

I will look at the name of it when I go up to the MH today. He has a website, but I got it from the owner of the company that I met at Lazy Days.

When I was storing my coach at my home at Smith Mountain Lake, I would sprinkle moth balls under the coach. That seemed to keep the pests away.

I also keep two or three Tom Kat sticky pads in the storage bays. The do the job if the crawly things do get in.
