We have a Anthem 2017 does the air tank need to be drained and if so how often?

Welcome to iRV2.

You may have 3 air tanks with drains , and they should be drained every 6 months , any water visible when draining would be an indicator of problems with the air system dryer, that would require service or repair.

Congratulations! Welcome to the the Entegra family.

Drain periodically, the dryer will keep the air system remarkably dry. Check more frequently in hot humid climates.

Again, welcome aboard.

Yes drain every six (6) months or more often if in high humidity environment. You should have three (3) cables one to wet tank, two for dry tanks. They are color coded, wet tank first then dry tanks, as I always forget which color is what my son placed garden over the steel cable handles; numbered #1, #2, #3 for me I just pull. It is usual for wet tank to have small amount of water come out. Dry tanks should be just that dry / no water discharged.

There are three (3)colored cables. one is silver, one is green and one is red. Pull the silver one first until it drains completely; then pull the green one until it rains completely; then pull the red on until it drains completely. In that order. And you will help your air dryer function better.

For the 2017 Anthem (perhaps the others but not totally sure) all the tanks have been moved to the rear (as with the batteries ,alleviate the weight on the front end) so the lanyards are on the passenger side and can be accessed from the DEF tank area.

We took delivery of our 2017 Anthem today and the three lanyards were located just in front of the passenger front tire.

and for the 2016 Anthem they are also located just in front of the passenger front tire and about 3 ft in so you need to crawl under (between front tire and steps). I bled them today and the silver took about 2-3 minutes the green about 5-6 minutes and the red about 2-3 minutes

The week b4 Springfest PJ at Entegra gave us a factory tour and showed us a 2017 Anthem chassis (naked) with all three air tanks moved to the rear of the coach (just behind the tag). The three lanyards were routed to the top of the DEF tank.

At Springfest the Spartan rep showed us the same thing.

Last week at Albany RV we looked at a '17 Anthem and the lanyards were not over the DEF tank, yet it did have the driver side DEF fill. Also it did not have the magnetic A/C return vents. This coach must have been one of the very first 17's off the line.

Guessing there may be a few early 17's that have the '16 version of the Anthem chassis?

757driver is correct. Our 2017 is built on a 16 chassis I believe. Hope we didn't miss any improvements.

The way I understood the spartan rep was that the lanyards were to be pulled only momentarily unless you hear moisture sputtering. The tanks don't need to be bled completely empty
