Bunched up sealant strip?

When DW extended the slides yesterday she noticed what looks like a strip sealant tape than bunched up at the end of the DS salon slide. Has anyone else had this happen? Any ideas what to use to replace it and how to go about it? Is it necessary?

Yep. Mine had done it, although not this bad. Supposedly fixed at PDI in October. Right back the way it was week later. Don't know how it was repaired. Might talk to Customer Service.

Not sure, but it looks like the eternabond from the top of the slide? Like maybe your slide adjustment is out and it scraped off as the slide was extended? I would get a ladder and look at the top of the slide from the outside, especially at the edge joints.

Bunched up sealant strip?

I, too had that problem on my '17. Haven't actually worked the slide enough since the repair to see if it took.

Something snagged the membrane that seals the top of the slide. Might possibly be the rubber slide seal or a screw that caused it. I can't speak to how it occurs, but it definitely affects the ability of the design to prevent water intrusion in inclement weather.

So get it fixed, ASAP.

I have the exact same thing in the exact same location. I first noticed it as I was LEAVING Middlebury from our PDI. A day late & a dollar short. That location is hard to get to and inspect. Please post any details of a fix.

From the photo, it looks like the frozen slide seal may have been stiff enough to peel the Enternabond tape from the slide seam. Hopefully it will be close enough to the edge to replace.
Home Depot and Lowe's sell seam tape patches now so you won't have to buy an entire roll to make the repair. At one time Walmart was selling it in the RV section and CW has it as well.

In PJ's class he was taking about lubing the slide seals with baby power to keep them pliable, but I don't even think that would work in Idaho temps.

Yes, it was warm. I think the membrane wasn't firmly pressed into the corner and fully adhered with the glue. They have repaired it, but I will need to keep an eye on it.

Looks like there is probably more to contend with than just replacing the sealant tape.

Mine is identical. Hard to see it as there is little room to work betweein the slide and the entertainment area. Looking at the forward end is easy and gives you a good idea of what it is supposed to look like.

If the decorative tape comes loose across the top of the slide the adhesive that is left will pull the slide topper loose, it is some sticky stuff. They installed some neoprene blocks for the main slide to slide on when the slide starts going down, when ours was built. Those seem to be working well, but I see one place where that decorative tape is coming loose. I wish they would just leave that stuff off across the top.

You need to pull all the wood facing on top off to get to the membrane, then glue the membrane back in place. Lots of work for sure.

Vance, the Eternabond tape on the slide top in some locations can be reached from the outside with the slide extended.
