Carlsbad and Balloon Festival

Headed down to Albuquerque and the Balloon Festival. We werenít planning on bringing the car but we did want to stop at Carlsbad along the way. How is the trip into the park with a 45 foot coach? The map looks pretty windy.

It has been a while but I don't recall any issue with the road at all.

When we got there that evening it was a bit late but we decided to check out the visitor center etc to have our bearings in the morning. Visitor center was closed by that time but there were still a lot of cars there but no people, then we saw a couple and asked where everybody was and she told us over in the amphitheater waiting for the bats. So we got out and meandered over and waited with everyone else. It was worth the wait to see the bats fly out of the cave. The following morning we walked down into the cave via the natural entrance, then took a ranger led tour as well in the cave, then took the elevator up and out. we only had the one day to spend there otherwise I would have done several other tours they offer.

Taxman:

If you are doing the Enegra rally for the balloon fiesta, their location is not right at the launch field but at a different park. OP, please clarify what approach you mean.

Sorry Gary, I should have been more specific. We are going to the Balloon Festival with the Entegra Group so we have all the transportation set going from the RV Park to the Festival. What I was referring to was going into and out of Carlsbad. I haven't been there in a very long time and don't remember the drive into the park and visitors center. Looking on a map the drive into Carlsbad doesn't look real coach friendly.

Taxman: I strongly suggest using Google Earth and look at the switchbacks you will encounter. Do not recall any large coaches in the parking area. We did use our tow vehicle each time(3).
Good luck !

We were at Carlsbad last March. You could get the coach to the visitor center but the RV parking is super limited and filled up fast. We took the toad in each day and left the coach at a campground.

Get there early am. Plenty of room for the 45 ft. We did same thing last year.

Hi, not to jump in but it has been years since we were there but only drove our pickup to the top & left the 5th wheel down in a park. As I remember it was pretty windy. Maybe call the ranger station & ask them. We have a motor home now but still don’t want to drive up the hill.

Water pump

Hi there we haven a 2015 Aspire. We had it parked at our oldest son place with full hook ups. We were going camping & filled the water tank. It says 100% so we have water. As we were getting ready I disconnected everything & turned on the pump. Heard it running a long time to build up pressure then it quit running. We got to our camping spot way out in BFE if you know what that means. We have no water & couldnít flush the toilet. Had to borrow a bucket to dip water out of the river to flush. Had to open the drain valve to get enough water for coffee in the morning.
Had a guy who has been RVing for awhile & look at the pump. He pulled the filter off & no water came out. He said my pump was bad.
I had tried to call Entergra but they said the office was closed on the weekend. Use to have a number you could call after hours. I called a person that I know worked there. They had quit because of all the lies they had been telling their customers. I know my factory visit was less then happy & still have a bad taste in my mouth about it. I was trying to find out where the fuse was for the pump.
Finally to my question, do I replace the pump with the same one or update to a better one. Sorry I canít write a short letter, thanks for the help. B.

Probably need a moderator to move post 9 to a new Entegra thread for the Water Pump.

I assume the pump is not running when turned on, and there is water in your tank (should be able to see the tank in your wet bay) Make sure all you valves are in the correct position, outside faucet and the anti Freeze hose are in the Off position - the water pump may not prime.

If it is not running, not sure where the fuse is. (I would take a shot with a 12 Volt battery and see if the pump would run).

If it needs replaced, there are a few threads in the last 2-3 months on different water pumps others have replaced from Shur-Flow for better water pressure, and quieter operation.
