CB Radio

If you have a CB in your Entegra, where did you mount the CB radio?

Cobra CB Radio's has a radio that mounts under the dash area and the hand mic controls the channel changing all by one hand. The Cobra model is (75 WX ST Compact/ Remote mount CB.) Here is the link to Cobra Electronic Corp's site. It retails for around $129.99 and you can find them at Truck Stop's where you fuel up or some electonic stores. I hope this helps.

Several uses for sure. Leave it set to channel 19 and you can listen to the truckers for updates on traffic/accidents ahead and where the cops are. Sometimes it's just fun to listen to the truckers converse. Be advised though that their language sometimes is very vulgar so stay away if swearing offends you.

Hi Marc

We plan to use a handheld for now until we decide if it's worth messing with. Ad noted there's a bunch of unnecessary language on 19 and other channels. Non-truckers are not always welcome. having said that, I'd probably put a permanent location on the left where the antenna comes in.

I added some velcro to to top of the CB, and "stuck" it to the lower panel, to the left of the driver, at floor level.

I can see and adjust the channels/volume with my left hand.

I added an external speaker and mounted that in the vicinity of the climate controls.

Mounting worked well.

I removed it for lack of activity on the band, after traversing the USA, west/east and north/south

Not happy with what we heard, when we did. Do I really need to know why the traffic is slow up ahead? I'll get there eventually and see it first hand..

Certainly not the amount of active chat I remember from the mid 70's, when I licensed

CB

I have the Cobra 75 that I moved from my old rig. I mounted the control box to the left of the steering column just in front of the side console. The small kick panel is easily removed and later replaced. I screwed a mike clip on the left forward part of the side console. I don't use it much driving because as others have noted the truckers use horrible language and I'm afraid if I did hear the things they said about RVs I'd succumb to road rage like they do. I do how ever use it when traveling in groups or to talk to my DW if she has to relocate the toad car. I use it the most for the National Weather Service on the 5 WX channels. When you camp in SPs or Recreation areas, sometimes rural WX is the best thing. It also broadcasts tornado and severe WX alerts if you travel down the highway and see black clouds ahead sometimes you can pull over to avoid big Southwestern hail storms.

I always keep my CB on. Truckers will typically inform you of things they see that don't look right on your rig. Lights out, low tire etc....

We've been on a few "Rolling Rallies" where we used CB to talk with the other coaches in the convoy. Other than that, I have only used it once or twice in ten years when stuck in a long line of traffic, to find out which lane is broken down and try to get into the best lane for getting past the jam. Didn't use it much, but liked t the few times I needed it.
