I had mine done with Ceramic pro. I am extremely happy with the results. It wasn't cheap by any means, but the shine is extraordinary, the hydrophilic properties are great and it resists dirt.

Ceramic coatings

Ironic that in the past 2 days I"ve been reading about ceramic coatings. I'd never even heard of them until recently. My question is...Can this coating be "user installed" as effectively as having a detail shop do the work? It appears that it's essentially a "spray on" type of coating. Spray on - wipe off and polish. Is this incorrect?

The trouble with DIY is the proper product is not available but to certified dealers. There are two on the market that are worth anything. Ceramic pro and gliptone GT quartz. Most everything else is a watered down version

How much do you think it would cost to have this professionally done?

If it is any indication, my neighbor just paid nearly a grand each to have his Z06 and Hellcat professionally done

Cant tell you about RV's but a few weeks ago in October I had an 18 Audi Q7 Suv and a 18 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited, our toad, ceramic coated with "Opticoat PRO +" which I heard and researched as "the best." Ive never heard of any of the ones mentioned above. This included custom paint touchup for rock chips and paint correction to remove any swirls and included the wheels...

All in $1300 each vehicle in Phoenix.

It was about 4-5 hours per car, and does include a re-polish 3 weeks later to make sure all is curing properly as it takes about a month to fully cure.

https://www.opticoat.com

Good Luck.

How long would it last? Is maintenance needed, other than normal washing? If so, is the maintenance something an owner can do or would it also require a pro?

Claimed 5 years. Mine is on for two and shows no sign of wearing. I just wash with a MF cloth and rinse with my DI spotless. The hydrophobic properties are amazing

They told me Yes or No... it depends on me....

My warranty is for 7 years
In the 7 years I will never need to wax my car.

but

What I have been told is.. If I go to $5-15 cheep-o car washes, (like at gas stations) it will eventually leave some swirls in the coating from their dirty brushes. In about 2-4 years I will probably see a difference and need them to come back and re-polish the coating. When re-polished, it will look like day one again.
Cost - about $90 to $150 every 2-4 years in home service depending how badly it is swirled.

If I pay the company that applied the coating, to come to my house once a month and hand wash the car... I will never need any touch-ups for the entire 7 years of the warranty and the lifespan of the coating. It will look as good in the 7th year as it does today.
Cost - $65 a month.

I don't normally keep my cars that long so Im just going to the cheep-o carwashes, and if I still have the car in 3 years I'll spend the money to get it back to new.... If needed.

Hope this helps.

Good Luck!

For my automobiles I have been using Hydrosilex Recharge available through multiple sources. It's approximately $60.00 for a 32ox bottle. I have done my truck twice over the last year and used barely an inch out of the bottle. You use micro fiber cloth spray on and wipe off. Takes about 10-15 min to do my entire truck with great results. Plan to use on the RV once received. 2020 Cornerstone on order.

Had ours done with IGL Kenzo. Looks amazing washes and drys incredibly easy. Need to use PH balanced car wash, baby shampoo is the best. $5000 is about right but I think it's worth it.
