Changed Coalescing filter on a 450 ISL this weekend

Spartan's big Mike recommended that I change this filter every 4 years. So this weekend I jumped in and changed it. I managed to remove the floor in the bathroom without removing the trim along the floor. With the help of a friend move the floor out of the bathroom just for more space (I didn't want to drop it). Removed the bolts from cover (8 mm socket) and lift the cover. I removed the 2 rear bolts from the rear of the coach. pull the cover up and out and there is the filter. I pulled the filter out, and lightly oiled the O-rings on the new one prior to installation. Put the cover back on tighten the bolts, cover back on and your done.

I thought this was much easier than the air filter that I also changed.

Nice job Jeff, I always keep a plastic bag handy to carry out the old filter.

Good job,

-Matt

Thanks Jeff - The pictures you texted were difficult to see. You know my phone!!

Looks like a simple change that I’ll be doing next year, our four year point. How ‘bout a part number? Do you still have it? Cost and where you purchased, if possible.

Thank God that is still 3.25 years into the future.... and then I just might decide to leave it to a mechanic to accomplish.... we shall see.

I had to Google "What does a coalescing filter do?" on Google and now I know. Still think that I will let someone else do the job....

But your description is going to be saved in my "folder of really important Entegra stuff" so thanks for publishing it. You da man...

The filter is about $75 from Cummins. They did not know this part by name as a 'coalescing filter', but rather as an element. I think it is basically a pcv valve. And don't lose a bolt out of the cover, it's a shoulder bolt that runs $50.Pics are from my 2010 ISL 425, EPA 2007. Verify correct part number.

This filter is in place of the old slobber tube that diesels used to have. EPA didn't like the steaming drippy tube sticking down.

Part number CV50628 from Amazon. Cost I think was $91 and it is a Fleetguard.

I started thinking about it and a lot of people on here don't keep their coach long enough to change the filter.

Gary not sure the ISX uses the same filter, but my guess is there is something similar.

Sorry Paul forgot about the phone!!!! See you next month!
