Checking hydraulic fluid level

Tightened connection at hose to power steering pump, correcting slight leak, I think, but not sure how much fluid was lost and cannot find where, or literature on, checking the hydraulic system fluid level in a 2017 Anthem. All help gratefully appreciated.

Unless they changed it from the Classics, it should be a large black tank just inside of the engine cover. It has a screw cap on the top that has a dipstick attached to it. Not the coolant recovery tank on the right side.

Be careful though. The screw cap only tightens a rubber expanding plug. Just unscrew it a little bit and then pull it out. It's sticky so wiggle it a bit the first time. If you unscrew it to far the dipstick will fall off the end of the cap and into the tank.

Tank is deep when that happens ! Found that out years ago but learned my lesson and it's never happened again.

Don't overfill that tank either. A Cummins shop poured oil in until it overflowed when they repaired a hydraulic leak. I asked the tech if that was okay, he said "no problem". That tank shed oil for weeks until I finally paid Spartan to drain the oil to the correct level.
