Chrome Exhaust Extensions

Others have commented and I have experienced that the chrome extensions on my Anthem generator exhaust seem to be made out of some pretty cheap material. My Anthem is only 10 months old and the chrome is pitting and rusting in spots all over the chrome extension. I know that good ones can be had and will stay nicely shiney and unpitted for years and years, but I don't know what manufacturer I should be looking for?? Anyone found good replacement chrome extensions for the Genny and their AquaHot that you would like to suggest?

Gary

My AH is even worse. I'll be looking forward to sources as well. I took chrome polish to it, but there is nothing left to clean up.

Anyone with an Aspire (propane Aqua Hot) has to keep using the baffle on the AH exhaust. That unit needs the back-pressure to fire properly.

If this isn't it, it is getting close. I'll have to measure the exhaust.
GibsonŽ 500415 - Polished Stainless Steel Turndown Slash Cut Tip (1.50" Inlet / 1.50" OD Outlet, 8" Overall Length)

Cruzer also mentioned in one of the posts that he installed a straight tip on the AH to prevent burning the grass, hoses and shore power cords.
He purchased it online at Summit Racing.

I burnt my bug washing hose and will replace my AH exhaust with a straight tip as well.

Who installs the baffle? AH? That "screwed on add on" sure screws up the chrome tips appearance To bad it can't be done internally.......

It looks like Gibson's prices are much better. What a difference, maybe I am missing something.

Hmmmm, once again wrote a post and thought I submitted it, but it never appeared.

My Genny chrome tip is essentially 1 1/2" OD and its a mess of rust and pitting. The one that I took off shows right at 1 1/2" or maybe a 32nd or two bigger. It is held on to a jam screw drilled through the chrome pipe into the exhaust pipe. There were 2 screws, one completely stripped and had to have the head ground off to get the chrome piece off. One OK

On the downturn tip, I have been very careful in looking at this. I have intentionally put the power cord under the AH exhaust when the AH is running and there is minor heating, but nothing that would burn the cord or cause any problems short term. I worried that I would forget and position it directly under the exhaust and cause a serious problem sometime, so tried the same thing under controlled circumstances. Over the long haul, I can see that it might make the cord more brittle. The genny is a hotter running exhaust. However, if I am boondocking or in a grass state park, then I simply examine it when I arrive. If the grass/weeds are 4 to 6" tall, then I simply pull out the weeks or long dead grass near the exhausts, and I have never had a problem. I guess if I pulled into a hay field and boondocked I might have a problem, but I don't usually do that

And OMG, I never notice that back pressure thingie you guys have pictured on the Aspire, but that really looks like an amateurish jury-rigging (spelling??) if I have ever seen one.... WOW !!!! I would try to get that thing off my coach as quick as possible. I would think that a step down in exhaust diameter would accomplish the same thing and look a lot better. AquaHot have any suggestions....? Sorry Aspire owners

I bought the same Gibson tip from Amazon for an Onan 4K generator exhaust. It's solid, polished stainless, so no chrome plating to wear away.

On summit racing's site, I didn't see anything smaller than 2" or 3" ID. Me thinks they are in the business of selling substantially larger motor exhaust systems that we have on our 12K Onan or AH. I also looked at everything Amazon has to offer and don't see anything as small as 1.5 inches

WOW Mark, you are definitely The Man. Looked on Amazon and didn't see it... Probably was looking for chrome.

I will order one tonight and report on it. Like the idea of stainless steel and the clamp fastener to anchor it to the exhaust rather than the jam screws.

Thanks for the referral.

Gary
