Cleaning out slide toppers

I have a 2017 Anthem with the Girard slide topper awnings. I tried to take screws out so that I could fold out the cover and clean it out but it didn't seem to work. I don't see any comments on how to do this in the manual.

I read a thread from a few years ago talking about doing this and I wonder if they used to come with Carefree Awnings and switched to Girard and they don't let you do this. Girard is closed for the holiday, didn't try Entegra but assume they are closed as well.

thanks for any information

Wish Entegra would go to the toppers that mount on the coach with the sweeps that clean the awning as it retracts. They said the slides were too tall leaving no room to mount to mh.

thanks for any information

Yes, you could clean the boxes on the toppers up to 2016. Now with the Girards you can't open the boxes. You can take the end caps off by taking the two screws out on the back side then slide the caps out to disengage the tangs.

The Girards are much better in my opinion.

I prefer the way the square housings match the shape of the side awnings.
