Also how many people on the road have enough insurance to cover running into your coach where your insurance company is not going to have to foot part of the bill since they only have minimum insurance.

Similar to Gary and others, I just recently (4.10.2019) paid an additional 22% from last years $1975.00 cost w/ Allstate.
I will be researching further in the near future for other options.

Good point and something I had not thought about. Even my own auto policy would not cover totaling someone's new MH.

I think there are two major reasons for the huge rate increases in insurance. The first of which is that there are a lot more RV's on the road today than there ever have been. The increase in the number of rigs increases the likelihood of claims. The second of which is what you see on TV. The TV attorneys are everywhere. We have one big injury attorney factory here in Buffalo that is so huge and annoying that there has even been Saturday Night Live skits about them. It's part of our "I want what you have" culture and I don't see it getting better.
Every year we just shop our coverage. We've been with Utica Mutual, GEICO, Progressive, and others.

Huh? Doesn't the increase in the number of rigs also result in a proportionate increase the amount of premiums collected? Therefore this should not be a factor leading to increased rates.

Actually it goes in reverse. If there are more rigs then there is a greater risk of accidents happening with substantial payouts. When you add in the logic of "you must be rich because you've got a big motorhome" and we are rolling lawsuits waiting to happen. When one of us has an accident it is costly no matter what.

I don't accept that logic. By that standard, the more cars that are sold, the higher the insurance premiums should be. It would only make sense if the additional claims had to be paid from the same premium income. Since each additional vehicle pays an additional premium, the overall risk is not increased. If anything it is decreased, because insurance is based on the law of averages and large numbers of insureds gives less variance from those averages. Any insurance class or text will tell you that.

Gary last year a friend told me he saved $500 using Geico. I had a great rate with progressive and when I called Geico I also saved about $500. Worth a try

I just do a dollar cost avg. for yrs I’ve had it and see if I can live with it, that helps. When it gets to where I don’t want to pay the insurance and the PPT and the storage I’ll get out. The bad thing is with the maintenance and upgrades I’m just about there. [emoji57]

Insurance Co.= Vegas Baby
Looks like the world is somewhat like Vegas. We bet that we are going to file a claim, and the "House" bets that we will not. Guess that the "House"(Insurance Co.) isn't going to lose money. Premiums go up, and in a casino, our odds go down. House win's...

That's seems to be normal in some parts of the country, first year "come on rate" then a nice increase the following year as they know most will not take the time to shop rates. It happens with my auto policies constantly. The cars are a year older at each renewal, worth less, but rates increase. Just saved $900. bundling it with FMCA MH insurance. Maybe it will help keep the MH rates down, I don't know.
Wonder how Gary is doing with price quotes?

This will happen time and time again when you go to a new company I’ve had it happen to me and they’re all guilty of it giving you what you think is a good rate or an acceptable rate to find out next year it goes up 25%. My last carrier was Safeco before that I forget but was shopped thru Overland Ins. Co in AZ. Now using State Farm with my house and autos.
