Cricket vs Kangacruz - portable golf carts

Trying to decide between getting a Cricket or a Kangacruz (Canada) to add to our rolling stock inventory! Has anyone done a comparison? And we are needing a ramp to get it in the back of a Dodge Ram ... any advice is appreciated! Thanks, Lynn

My thoughts ymmv. Why not get a real golf cart, if you are going to use a PU to haul it? You can find a good used one for less than either of the others, and not have any of the drawbacks.

Couple reasons - we have the short bed PU and a regular golf cart would have to have the tail gate down and a bit more hassle. Another reason is that we are going to keep it at our office in our conference room until we retire, then we will need to get it down between our house and our neighbors alley in New Orleans to take to the back yard ... again, not very wide and a smaller cart would fit better. We couldn't get a full width golf cart through the backyard gate in NOLA. A Cricket or Kangacruz will just fit! BTW .. our house in New Orleans was built sometime around 1840 - so they didn't have the forethought to allow for cars or golf carts between the houses :-)

I have the cricket and it works great, takes about 10 min to remove the steering, seat back and rear bumper and load it. I put mine in the back of the Jeep Wrangler. The ramps that come with it extends to about 7'6".The battery range is great? Its best suited for moving around on smoother terrain. It flexes a bit too much for me when off road. The turning radius could be better.

We enjoy it ... it is below the Quarter and didn't flood during Katrina because we are very close to the Mississippi. It was going to be torn down in 2010 due to neglect ... now totally restored. The back was originally a Creole cottege and the front added around the 1890's or so. According to the architecture. Was once a "double shotgun" ... now is a single family home. We back up to a old Cotton Pickery that is currently being restored as well. The warehouse across the street from us was just purchased by Sean Cummings and is going to be restored and made into upscale "lofts" and a few retail establishments. So, the next couple of years should be interesting in New Orleans, that's for sure.

Interesting, Do you think this would also fit in a Cherokee or a Grand Cherokee???

The cricket SX-3 will fit in the my '15 Grand Cherokee which is a little wider and shorter (the opening) than my wrangler. I've seen pictures of them in a CRV but can't confirm that.

There is a guy I see every year at a the Tampa RV show selling those Cricket (I think) golf carts and he loads it into a Honda CRV and has the vehicle at his display.

We purchased our Cricket (ESV), used. It was 7 years old at the time. We have had it for three trouble free years, other than one battery replacement.

We like it because it will fit under the cap on bed of our truck.

Actually, it goes in my Ford Edge....had it 4years....make sure you get a 36 volt system....bought it from Boomer's Bents and Bikes in Odessa, Fl.....he's the guy by the canal at the Supershow....comes with ramps and the top.

It's a nice solution for us, and it takes about 10 minutes to load.
