Dash A/C on 2014 Cornerstone

2014 Cornerstone dash a/c. The fan on the condenser coil comes on for about 15 seconds and shuts off for about 45 seconds and then cycles back on for 15 seconds. air is cold until fan shuts off then starts to warm until it cycles back on. Pressure checks in the green with a over the counter gauge. I know they are a piece meal gauge but they work pretty good. Just wondering if this system is that pressure sensitive or is something else is going on. Thanks for any ideas.

JMO, but just about every problem with a dash air has been reported lately on 2014's dash airs. Mine was the thermister causing the unit to freeze up. Very expensive to find the problem with a nothing part. I also showed a full charge on the gauge. justal just did a post on the rebuild and problems he found on his 2013. I don't think there is any one problem outside of a few bad compressors reported on the earlier dash A/C's

Sounds like it could be the fan motor overheating.

Can you tell if the compressor cycles on the same time the fan turns on and then the compressor stops when the fan shuts off? It sounds like the controller for the compressor cycling is possibly failing....same thing brobox mentioned. Or the cycling could be out of whack because the system is low on R13a or the accumulator is plugging (my problem.) With the dash AC on and running look under the front cap at the front of dash and you will see the HVAC box and the refrigerant hoses plumbed to the system. There will be an accumulator that is a round can about the size of an frozen orange juice can with a pipe going in and out at the top. If that is cold or frosty it may be plugging.

The system is exactly what is put into cars of the mid 80's thru mid90's. The AC compresor is cycled to maintain the temp of the evaporator that cools the air. Any AC repair or auto repair that works with AC systems should be able to trouble shoot it easily. My immediate guess is that you might have a small leak, the R134a is a little low and the system is short cycling as a result. If you are bold add a little R134a using the quickie service containers available in auto parts stores and see if it improves. If it improves add a little more.....etc. If this has no effect them something is plugging or the ranco switch that operates off a thermocouple attached to the evaporator is possibly failing. That is an easy fix actually if the shop is sharp and honest. Same with the plugging accumulator.

Your system is low on refrigerant.

Gary is the resident A/C expert. When he said low on coolant reminded me that my gauge read 100% on the green, right after my A/C was repaired, vacuumed down and charged. I checked it for future reference in the parking lot before leaving. I leave that same gauge in the MH.

First of all thanks for all the very useful replies. Compressor does cycle with the condenser fan. It is low on gas so i will address that tomorrow. I will keep you posted. Hopefully will have it working tomorrow as we are leaving Thursday for Destin. If not I'll just fire up the gen.--needs some run time anyway. Thanks

Loaded her up with 134 today--No change. Ordered a pressure switch from Johnny's ac parts after getting a part number from Entegra. We will see next week. Later
