Dash A/C vent closes itself.

The vent louvers on my dash A/C have lost their friction, and as soon as I try to direct the air sideways instead of directly at my face, the force of the air causes the louvers to close shut. Has anyone else had this problem and found a solution?

Had the same problem . Just put some sealant similar to silicone on one side then set them to blow the air in the proper direction. They won't adjust now, but at least they stay open. Only a small amount was used and could easily be removed if I need to adjust them again.

Marc, I looked at photos of our vents, they look easy to change, but getting to them might be the hard part. Round Dash Vent 062-00772: nwrvsupply.com

Is it possible that the vent that is loose might be one of the ones easy to change?
