I have a GoPro but don't use it as a dash cam. It's a great camera and I used it on a drone and on my helmet when running ATVs in the Oregon sand dunes. But it's not user friendly as far as a dash cam goes. None of those auto features that you've mentioned. You need to switch it on manually. If I want to record some footage for scenic purposes, such as running up the Beartooth Highway I can set it up ands let it run for a couple of hours (with an AC adaptor) but you need to start and stop it if you pull over for a photo stop someplace as well. I'm leaning towards the Garmin 20.

One thing to be wary of. There's hundreds of dash cams out there on the web. Look very closely at the specs and or reviews. I bought a dashcam with really nice video while shopping in Singapore only to discover the menus were all in Chinese and the unit would only display Kilometers. We colonists still prefer MPH.
