Dashboard AC/heat circuit board held in place how?
The last time my DW and i were cruising down I -20 heading home, she got up from her seat to check on the needs of one of our cats. As she got up out of her seat, she started to lose balance and put a hand back to the dash to steady herself. Her hand landed on top of the sub panel in the big fake wood panel in the dash which controls the AC and heat and fan controls and pushed the right side of that board back away from the fake wood panel. In looking at it, I can’t tell how it is bonded to the back of the fake wood panel.. I asked EC customer service and they have no idea. So I ask you guys, mynpresumed saviors who actually know something about our coaches......😁.
Anyone had the fake wood panel off and know how that AC control panel is held on? I don’t like taking things apart without knowing what I am up against if at all possible.
Specific questions:
If I unscrew the fake wood panel, are the rear view camera and the GOS/entertainment boxes video screens secured to metal superstructure behind the panel and the panel only slips over them like a nose piece?
Then does anyone know how that AC sub panel is attached to the fake wood panel? I have reached through the fake wood panel hole and feel no bracket but also don’t see any bonding agent to bond it to the front panel like glue or caulking. What am I up against here?
Gary

Hey Gary, I don't know how the AC control panel is joined to the fake wood bezel, but I've had it off in the 2014 Anthem several times and there is no metal structure behind it. Remove the screws and tip it forward and you should be able to figure out how it is mounted. The radio is heavy so you'll have to be careful of that.

I've had my panel out and everything is attached to the fake wood. Just lean it forward then you can see what holds the HVAC unit to the panel.

Similar thing happened to me a few years ago.
I forgot the exact architecture behind the panel, but I do remember it was easy to fix.
Remove the fake wood panel & tilt it forward. I think the black sub-panel with the rotating switches has mounting tabs which are easily broken. If I recall, a few dabs of super glue or gorilla glue were all that I needed. I have since treated the mechanism with kid gloves and the fix has held. Not elegant but effective.

I'd suggest having a towel or something over the cup holder area so that you can lay that assembly down and not scratch things up.

A friend just recently had that happen and was told there are two stud type screws epoxied to back of panel that the controls are mounted to. He was told to epoxy the screws/studs back in place and reattach. Seems to be a poor design but I guess that's the way it is.

What Jeanne said and what EV said. I tapped into the hot wire for those controls for my TPMS. They are pretty flimsy, possibly a wire was knocked loose. Carefully lay the panel down,(on a towel) lots of wire back there for the radio, nav, etc. that can be pulled loose.

OK, gang, here it is. You can file this away for future reference or delete.
Brief history. My DW pushed the AC black metal sub-panel away from the fake wood dash area of my classic 2015 Anthem. The board pushed in and I could feel no anchoring system. Hawgguy was very close by saying that he thought that it was held in place by an epoxied screw somehow attached to the back panel of the fake wood panel. He was right.
The first picture shows the front panel with the AC sub-panel in place the way it normally looks.
The second image shows the screw that should be epoxied or attached to the back of the sub panel now unattached but still connected to the AC control sub-panel. Use a 5/16 nut driver to remove the nut while holding the epoxied disk.
The third image shows the AC control sub-panel after the fake wood panel is loosened and tilted forward. This view is looking down, and what you see is that the right side of the board has pulled away from the back of the fake wood.
The fourth image shows the epoxied screw by itself so you can see it's construction. There is a very shallow hole that the screw bottom plate goes into in the back of the board. I used Permatex fast drying SuperGlue and smeared it all over the flat surface of the screw, set it into its small indentation, and then smeared superglue over the edge of the screw pad and onto the back of the fake wood panel so that there was a bead of superglue over the "wood" and the metal screw. The circular ring to the left appears to be all that was "glued" (caulked?) from the original installation at the factory.

Could be worse. Thankfully it was not held on with genuine Saskatchewan seal skin bindings. ( sorry couldn’t resist, Canadian joke).
