Diesel Fuel Gelling
Just a quick note to anyone pulling out of the deep freeze in the north and heading south. If you have had your coach in storage and have a tank full of summer blend of fuel you may want to consider using a product called:
Diesel 9•1•1 | Power Service
If helps if you need it and harmless if you don't.

If your fuel gells, you'll know. The engine will die within a few minutes of driving, if it starts at all.
Seen it many times at my job. I even got to tow my brothers Expedition back to his barn, for warming up and fuel treatment, with my Hyundai.

We were going south two years ago and I started losing power. Mid Iowa I turned around and started back. Got down to just 40 mph up small hills and thought the Highway Patrol might kick me off the Interstate, but they didn't. Got it home and in a heated shed.
After warming up, changing fuel filters and adding more additive and fueling up with Winter blend, we were back on the road two days later.
I did have summer fuel but thought the additive I had added was enough. It wasn't.

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but I'm new this this phenomenon (live in the Nashville area...):
We've had a number of super-cold days for this area (highs in L20's, and lows in low teens or high single-digits). "If", due to this weather, the fuel has gelled at all, will that be permanent and require a repair solution, or, once temps warm back up (50 by Sunday), will the problem be cured? Thanks,
BG

Problem will be cured when it warms up enough.

Power Service...all the way!
I know there'll be many opposing views on this one, however, I use Power Service ALL THE TIME. Summer blend for Summer + Winter Blend in the Winter. Have never had a problem in either Season and no problems with my Duramax Diesel.
I know some will say I'm wasting money or whatever. It seems to work for me, my truck runs smooth like a baby's butt and it makes "me" feel better and more confident in my ride. I'll keep doing the same until I start getting some negative results from my current approach.

No argument here. I've used Silver Power Service in the summer for years and can say that in addition to a smooth running engine, I get at least one more mile per galon vs not using it.

Cummins now recommends Power Service additives.

Thanks! I should have mentioned we're not driving our coach in this weather; however, once it warms up, we'll do a 1-2 hour drive (trying to that every 3-4 weeks until we leave in early March). Thanks,
BG

I agree with this comment. When using it on my Dually GMC I always seemed to get about 1mpg better.

Number 2 diesel will form wax Chrystals at 17.5 degrees F according to specifications. That temperature may fluctuate depending on how close the fuel is to specifications.

Winder taker I totally agree !
I have been frequently " chastised " for recommending fuel treatment but with more then 50 years of being involved or owning diesel powered trucks, equipment and Motorhomes I use an additive at every fuel fill all year.
My preferred choice is HOWSE, Power Service or Cummins branded fuel additive. The first two are available at WalMart or most truck stops.
