If you have been parked in the north with a load of summer blend fuel I would recommend a bottle of this anti gel formula if you are heading out in the cold.

https://powerservice.com/psp_product...-cetane-boost/

I don't remember what date the fuel sellers in the northern states start putting anti-gel into the bulk tanks but I know that they start sometime in the fall.

A question I have always had was do the southern fuel stations add it to their tanks in the fall also or do you have to add this if you are heading north into the cold?

Cummins recommends using Diesel Kleen in their engines. I've used it in my truck and motorhome for years. I'm convinced that I get better mileage but attempting to do a "scientific" test would be weak at best - at least for me. I think the Cummins argument is that it counteracts the damaging affects of present day fuels.

I put in 60 ounces of Howe's when filling up to 150 gallons from a 1/4 tank full year round. Says right on the label, "improves fuel mileage" LOL! Best price I've found $9.98 for half gallon at Walmart

I routinely use the Diesel Kleen (made by Power Service) every time I fill-up. During the colder months (December - February) I use the Power Service Diesel Fuel Winterizer to assure I never have a diesel gel-ing problem --> https://www.businesswire.com/news/ho...E-Diesel-Kleen

When I store my motorhome for longer than two months, I also use Sta-Bil brand diesel fuel stabilizer to help prevent oxidation which leads to the diesel turning black in color and/or creating sludge in the diesel system --> https://www.goldeagle.com/product/di...el-stabilizer/

In the greater Houston area, the Power Service products -- Diesel Kleen and the Winterizer -- are available at Walmarts.

The Sta-Bil brand Stabilizer is available at Tractor Supply stores.

I have been using the diesel kleen above 30 degress. I use the white bottle anti-gel during winter months. It will not let you down.

I also use it if traveling in cold climates. A front can move though before I have traveled far enough to use a tank a fuel. I hate to get caught with no protection if the weather turns cold. I still have a bottle a keep on board.
