The lot I am trying to enter is on a cul-de-sac that is uphill. I need to pull uphill into the street, then back downhill into the driveway at an angle. The driveway is uphill also. Think of the lot and the street both being above the entrance, so I am backing through the low point of a saddle.

I purchased the new 3-way tag dump switch. Now, to do the work. The switch has a lot of terminals on the back, and no wiring diagram. Does anyone have a diagram showing the correct wiring at the switch? This weekend I intend to cut wire 37 and route it to the switch.

Disclaimer. A wiring diagram is really need for this project.

Most likely you will need to break out the ohm meter to do continuity checks. Recommend you read out the existing switch before you disconnect it. With out a wiring diagram it is a guess.

My guess is that when you depress the existing switch it will be closed passing a ground from pin 12 to pin 13 (from what I read earlier in the blog). In turn the module sends the signal out on pin 37 to the tag dump solenoids.

So when you cut the wire on pin 37 and wire both sides to the 3 way switch the normal switch position for those 2 terminals should be closed (passing continuity). This will allow the tag axle to dump pressure when in reverse and when you press the tag dump position. When you push the switch to the disable position there reading should be open (no continuity)

You will need to test the new switch with the ohm meter to figure which wires need to go on which terminal.

Ensure to heat shrink your splices and possible your terminal points.

My background is avionics (aviation electronics)

Wire 13 is the manual tag dump input. So, I'm sure that the wires on the existing switch are wire 13 and selecting manual dump connects them. Wire 37 is the automatic tag dump input (currently hard-wired). If I cut 37 and extend it to the switch, then I want the switch to connect them in auto mode and disconnect them in manual mode. There are more than 6 terminals on the switch and no documentation. Guess I'll play with the switch and my meter tonight, and call Entegra tomorrow.

Incidentally, if anyone else wants to do this, order the switch from MHS and it's about $29 rather than the $64 that it costs from Entegra.

The switch has 9 terminals, numbered 1,2,4,5,6,8,9,10,12. It is On-Off-(On), where the forward position is auto on, the middle is auto off, and the rear is manual dump (momentary on). According to a pdf I found from the manufacturer, the lights are on when 9 and 10 are connected (front) or when 9 and 12 are connected. 9 is the front left terminal and 10 is the front right, while 12 is the back right. So, illumination power comes in 9 and goes out 10 or 12. Terminals 2-4 and 5-7 connect in Auto. There is no difference between manual dump mode and off. So, 9, 10 and 12 work the same no matter how the switch is set, auto allows current to flow between 2 and 4 and 5 and 7, and manual doesn't appear to do a dang thing. I think I have to get a wiring diagram to do this.
