Dish conversion not working no HD

Couple of months ago had a Satellite tech convert my coach from Direct TV to Dish. On that day I had HD. Next morning NO HD. Only SD

Tech came back found bad wire replaced it and had HD.
Next morning NO HD! Only SD

Tech came back and replaces SWM42 and had HD.
Next morning NO HD. Only SD.

Beginning to feel like Ground Hog day

Put off calling tech again because I was headed to NIRVC Atlanta. They worked on it most of the day, fixed HD. Moved coach back to parking spot in front. I leveled coach, put out slides then raised satellite antenna. NO HD. Only SD

NIRVC techs came back out to coach, tried a bunch OF stuff and no HD. Tomorrow back into NIRVC shop to see if they can find issue.

Curious. Has anyone experienced this sort of failure with their Dish setup?

It’s driving me to crazy and I’m concerned I don’t have a lot of road to drive on to get there

Is the Winegard control box showing that you are receiving all 3 satellite when it goes to SD only?

I’ll keep you updated Brian. Called satellite tech back in Florida last night and he’s suggested that they run a wire outside the coach from the Winegard to the connections in basement to rule out bad wire. Passed it on to NIRVC

so here we sit in the NIRVC Atlanta waiting room day two

What receiver and wiring (LNB, switch/ etc.) do you have?
What city/state or zip code is your home service address?

I use:
DPP LNB
DPH42 switch and power inserter
Hopper3 receiver.

Sat 129 is very marginal where I'm located outside Knoxville.

Knoxville HD Locals are on Sat 61.5, SD locals are on 129.

I've been struggling since the trees leafed out.
Same location in March, I got all three western arc birds fine (of course my locals were SD)
Now, with the trav'ler in western arc auto, I only get sat 119!

After struggling with moving the coach to different sites trying to find all 3 birds through the trees, I found a page in the manual describing putting the Trav'ler in Manual Mode Sat 61.5 only.

After the antenna locked onto 61, I did a test installation (check switch on older receivers) and waited for my guide to update, and WOW! I got all (or most) of my channels all in HD!

Your problems may have more to do with satellites and physical location than they do with your hardware.

Not saying you’re wrong but this is happening to me in three different totally unobstructed places with over 70 strength on all three satellites (110, 119, 129). Problem seems to happen after either a movement or raise/lower Winegard.

Rick, has anyone swapped the LNB's with a known working set? It sounds like all of the wiring has been checked and changed, but noting mentioned about the LNB's. Original set could have been damaged in shipping.

Not saying I'm right...
But hard to tell without input.

This website shows what sat local spotbeams are on across the country, in HD and/or SD. Local Channels on DISH Network (Unofficial Listing)

This one lets you drill down by sat # The Uplink Activity Center

Note that on Dish, there is no magic "I'm not getting HD".
It doesn't exist. Most but not all Western Arc HD is on sat 129, most but not all Eastern Arc HD is on 61.5 (which the Trav'ler does not get in automatic mode.)

There is certain programming is available at each orbital location, SD or HD are specific signals or channels. Generally every channel is available in both, often on 2 different satellites.

Jim,

My “home”address is LaBelle, Fl 33935

Currently at NIRVC Atlanta ... Lawrenceville, Ga 30043

Local channels for nbc abc cbs 11, 2, 46

Not sure which LNB I have. Power switch is SVM42 I think.

Sat tech in addition to suggesting running wire outside coach from antenna to basement also suggested that maybe the receiver is bad.

ok. Fort Meyers locals,
SD on sat 110
HD on 129 and/or 61.5

It looks like you are outside of the fort meyers local spotbeam in Atlanta.

You should be able to get channels above 110ish in HD?

Leaving NIRVC Atlanta Thursday morning

Discovered we have HD on higher numbered stations like Scifly and Fxx but none on local channels.

Techs phoned Dish Advanced Tech and they recommended replacing LNB. tech did and still no joy. NIRVC ran out of parts so couldn’t replace dish and arm on LNB and we ran out of time.

Besides the dish and LNB arm the other possible failure is a problem with the receiver. All wiring has been checked and double checked and all connections confirmed solid/tight.

Frustrated as all heck but cannot complain about the amount of effort applied by several NIRVC techs, from .Jeremy to Wu to Robert to Travis and including time with my service advisor Patrick, they were all really as frustrated as I was that they couldn’t fix it.

We’re off to complete our trek to stay in all 49 states that we can drive to. By August we will hopefully complete that item on our bucket list. Then we’ll move into our new home in Winter Haven. We’ll suffer to watch our shows in SD until we settle in one place for awhile and then address the problem again with gusto.

Meanwhile we’re becoming quite the streamers

As I posted above, Dish broadcasts Local channels on Localized "Spot beams".
Once you are out of your home area, you can no longer get your home area locals.
Atlanta is on the edge or beyond the reach of the Ft Meyers spotbeam.
As you go further away, you will lose the SD side as well.

They can throw every part in the truck at this, it won't help.
Call Dish and have them change your service address to where you actually are.
