Don't try updating the Rand-McNally SD card right now

Wasted several hours this morning screwing around with two of my computers and then three frustrating calls and phone trees and endless waits trying to get a call through to Rand-McNally customer service (and NEVER getting to get the problem resolved or even get good information) because my RM Dock software would not load on my computers or "see" the SD card, I finally, in frustration, called Xite to talk to their people, only to be nicely told "Well, we know Rand McNally is having some problems with their software and its not working right now. Our advice is wait a few days and then try again"

Little makes me more frustrated than wasting time with company customer service calls that go nowhere and accomplish nothing so I thought I might save you some trouble...... if your system is working and you are just wanting to update maps, forget it for a while and try again this weekend. Rand-McNally is having some serious problems apparently.

Just want to thank you again for being our beta tester and being the first to find problems.

I use to think I was the only one that had problems and was always told "This is the first I have heard of this problem"

I will wait until I get the all clear from you before I go and update mine.

Thanks Gary.... I was going to update today. Rand McNally strike again. If there was an alternative that was a plug and play or "Drop In" system they would make a fortune.

Rand Mcnally question

Since we're talking about Rand McNally....i notice that the map screen as we are going down the road doesn't update or move smoothly...it seems to be updating travel every 1 to 2 seconds. I'm used to GPS screens showing a smooth movement as we progress down the road.

It wouldn't hurt to run the update again along with a map update. Mine did the same thing before I did the SD card update.

My GPS screen moves smoothly, at least I have never noticed any "jerkiness" in its travel.

Ran an update last week...fixed most problems but Sounds like I need to run another update to try and fix jerky screen

I had no problem updating via the dock this morning and then transferring the update to my card (Windows 10).
NB: card has to be in unlocked position, but of course you all knew that.

I ran the update but the program bombs every time. I'm running Win10, I've got the latest .net framework, and Java. Let us know your secrets! Could it be the SD card was getting full?

Maybe I wont try again on second thought.... that was what it was doing last week.... windows program would not install and crashed near the end of the installation.
