DS Slideout is not cooperating

Afternoon friends, we've been prepping to head to grandma's house for the holiday and I just tried to close the DS slide and it moves, ever so slightly and then stops and then when I hit the switch it returns to fully extended, which was hardly an inch. PS slide operates as it should.

It gives the impression it's binding, but I can't see where.

Any help or guidance would be appreciated.

Thanks

Heck for items that might be interfering with the slide movement. That includes items in the basement. Also open the basement doors and observe the movement of the slide while it is moving. Check motor for tigtness

Didn't appear to be anything on the inside and in the basement it looked clear. I haven't opened any of the inspection panels to look. Shaft and motor felt tight. I will say it did look like the slide was not moving evenly when engaged.

Is this the front or rear slide? Does the motor sound like it is laboring? If so Herb is probably correct. If it is the bedroom slide, look in every nook and cranny under the bed. I had a roll of TP roll behind one of the dividers under the bed binding up my slide.

Front and yes, it only moves about an inch and then appears to trigger a safety switch as it immediately shuts down. It would move back to full open, but that's less than an inch.

You could always try the manual procedure for moving the slide in.

Sounds like the resettable relay for the retract function may be going bad on that slide. Try swapping with another on the board of equal or larger capacity. I believe it is the second from the top left on the board...they are labeled

Thanks, our mobile mechanic came by and he thinks there's some broken teeth on the gears. We got it in by cycling the switch each time it stopped. Quite a bit of banging, but it came in on it's own. Now find a replacement by Friday so we can get to grandma's house.

We just had to replace the rear cog wheel on ours, wore out in 3 years, not good!

Larry, Not saying it was your problem, but if other would put tightening the slide motors on their annual maintenance many of these can be avoided. Those small motors have a lot of torque pushing and pulling those big slide in and out that cause the mounting bolts to come loose and the motors to go out of alignment. Blue Loc-Tite on the bolts does help.

I have re-torqued the motors twice and blue loctite them each time. All other cogs are fine. do not under stand it.

Were you able to just buy the gear or did you have to purchase the whole assembly?

It does happen, they are not the best gears for the amount of torque they take. You did all the right things and one still broke. This goes back to the Travel Supreme days, gears still stripped.
