DVD shutting off
We're trying to play a movie for the rugrats in the bedroom. The DVD player shuts off every 15 minutes or so. I can't find anything in the manual about it. The TV manual shows various timers, but the TV is fine - it's the player that shuts down. Any ideas?

Loose plug in the outlet? If that is not it, try unplugging the DVD player for a minute and see if resetting it will work.

Maybe the battery in the remote is weak.

If it is in a cabinet it may be getting hot.

I agree with YC1.
Had the same problem. My DVD player was on the bottom self and Direct box on top shelf. I swapped them around and pulled the tv out from the full closed position and haven't had a problem since. Not 100% sure but it might have a thermal shutoff.

When stacking components in cabinets I use small blocks to allow more air circulation. I have added a fan in the cabinet currently in use.

Wow, I had no idea a largish empty cabinet containing just a little DVD player would get hot (this is the bedroom unit). I suspect the TV is more of a culprit than the player. The TVs in these units are much thinker than newer TVs and I suspect that they draw more power. Tomorrow when I'm doing my post-trip cleanup I'll take a DVD and my infrared thermometer and experiment.

It is a setting in your Bose. Go into you setting, to Auto Off & Disable!

You will be measuring the surface temp. You can add a lot for what the component temps will be. Any electronic device can become temperature sensitive if some part is dying or out of tolerance.
The true test is to run it with the cabinet open and raise the player an inch with small blocks. Something the size of a Leggo will work.

My bedroom TV was shutting off at random. Usually shortly after powering on. Not common, and totally unpredictable. Turns out, that batch of Samsung TVs had a known issue with bad capacitors (via a google search). Lo and behold, when I went to Middlebury they were able to reproduce the problem and replaced the TV.

My living room TV was shutting off every 15 min. I went to the BOSE menu, there was AUTO OFF & disabled was on my screen of the BOSE. Mine plays great now. GOOD LUCK

I had the same issue. In my case it was the Samsung Talk or some other such setting on the large main TV where these devices were communicating with each other for power on and off. For instance, when I turned on the front or back TV, it actually was telling the main salon TV to turn on through the HDMI connection. It would just turn on and stay on with a black screen. After 10 minutes or 15 minutes, the large TV would auto shut off for power savings since nothing was playing on it, and that auto shut off would signal all the TVs and BluRay players in the coach to shut off. Boom, power off.
Drive through the menus on your large main TV to find something like Samsung Link and turn that off.
I never had the problem again.
thanks.

Bingo! I bet that is it. When we turn on the TV in the bedroom the main TV always comes on, even with the intervening door closed. I bet that the TV shutting off is causing the problem. I'll check when I get back to the coach.
