Wait until you have the pleasure of re-stringing them. Talk about a pain to adjust.... Been there, done that, I would rather replace the motors when I get the Entegra.
A tip...when the plastic spools at the bottom of the shades start breaking, replace them with metal sewing machine bobbins will solve the problem.....Yes, you will have your shade problems as well, be prepared.

I know what you mean. Had to restring the shades on my Tiffin. Luckily, none of the Entegra models have that type of shade. We all have the MCD-style shades. Some are electric and others are "by handers".

My experience is two shades....one at delivery, and one about two months in. The pesky one was the driver's side shade stuck in the down position. Solution till the motor fix, a large bag clip and pull the shade up through the roller till it was high enough not to inhibit driving. Not elegant, but effective.
The fix was worse for this one as it requires the plastic front wall be removed. Each of these walls is cut to fit during the build and once installed if they have to remove it, it is hard to get it back into the same position below the side window frame. t least that's what they told me when it popped out one day after the fix on the motor. Doesn't look too good now...next year's punch list.
I think Dusty's thought abut a stock on board of motors may not be a bad idea, but I wan't aware that our friends in Middlebury would do that kind of thing.

Dave, I have a thought, go back to MCD shades or use manual shades. If they are going to keep using United shade then just put a box of motors in the cargo area next to the tiles. We are more likely to replace shade motors than tiles. Shade dies, you reach for a motor, when you have a few hours of time you replace it. Gives us something to do, engages our brain, we get to burn some calories while relaxing at a campground. At the rate I am going a case of 24 will last me 15 months. Proactive approach to the shade issue.

Another alternative...haven't looked, but check to see if the brackets will support pull downs and got to your local "Shades R Us" and get your own custom cut...manual pull downs.
A Prevost pulled in day before yesterday. Millennium built. Night shades in front and on door and driver side windows look like the accordion style you put in your house. I thought...jeez...all this technology out there and Prevost is using accordions (now I'm sure they are electric)...just sayin'....
There are alternatives when we leave warrantee...or before if a person's frustration level grows too large.

X2 on the MCD shades. Seems a real shame to build a truly first class coach and then put cheap imitation 2 nd class shades in it. All JMHO

Question. When these shades fail and it sounds like it inevitable, is there a manual to raise them?

When I started to read this thread I was beginning to worry I ordered the MCD windshield and cock pit American Duo shades and they arrive next week. Glad to see that it looks like the other brand shade is the one that appears to have the motor problems. Only the windshield shade on my setup is motorized the side cock pit shades are manual.

Entegra went to United on the other windows because they supposedly had some much trouble with MCDs (they kept MCD on the windshield). The market wants electric shades, but evidently, no one makes a motor in their shades that will last.
Ref Gene's comment with the LOL...that's precisely what we did for the first three months with the driver's side day shade....big snap clip when on the road

My Fleetwood came with a power windshield by Auto Motion Shade and I had all the other windows done with the manual duo shades. They're currently being used by a lot of RV mfg. Maybe Entegra will see this.

We have power MCD shades in the cockpit, front living area, manual in the bed room of our Dynasty. We did have one motor malfunction and of course it was the front cockpit window. Our shade and visor are both 1 piece across the window rather than the split version I've seen on the Entegra. Rather like a single as it blocks the light better. Also our solar shades are on the outside with the privacy shades on the inside. It looks like the Entegra is the reverse which seems backwards to me, but that may be because it's the only power shades we've owned so we are just used to them. MCD was great about getting the replacement motor shipped to us quickly and we were able to replace it ourselves. Our coach has been in full time use for two years and that has been the only motor failure. We have had to tighten the springs of a couple of the manual shades.

Yep Entegra has it backward and does not seem to want to change. I have the one piece front shade and love it, not sure why they went back to the two piece, wish they had stayed with the single piece.
