While we’re on this subject Gary in 20,000 mi on our 2017 Cornerstone I never saw a regen message. On this 2020 X15 I’ve seen the regen message twice in 1,400 mi. Is that normal on the X15?

There is a DEF filter, a filter for the purpose of filtering the actual liquid DEF (had to clarify). I think it's every 200,000, so probably unlikely in a motorhome scenario. That's the only service I know of.

I think I’ve seen it show passive regen heading down the road twice in ~ 22,000 miles, always at highway speed. Never seen an active regen at rest and not sure it ever does that.

Now, remember that I just had a DEF pump replaced because it was not pumping enough DEF and probably stopped completely several times (giving goofy indications on the dash) That happened at around 19,000 miles and don’t think I have seen a regen since. But, very sure I never got regens as frequently as twice in 1400 miles. Will be interesting to see what happens as you put more miles on the coach. Keep updating.

Update on my engine light. Thought I was going to be lucky, the cummins technician attached his computer to my coach, 1st it needed a software update and had it been just that, there wouldn't have been any charge, however the engine light came back on and wow, the SCR sensor has to be replaced, that is a 669.00 part, the total bill if not covered by my extended warranty is going to be over 2,000.00. Access isn't easy and the tech said that they would have to drop the exhaust, then I found out the the Exhaust diffuser tip is missing, probably was missing from the 1st day I picked up the coach.

I know this is a different request, does anyone know where I can get a stainless steel diffuser? at least 5 inches in diameter

thanks

Please clarify. By "diffuser" do you mean the chrome downturn exhaust pipe tip that extends from the "catalytic converter" (the SCR "muffler") to behind the rear cap?

If it is the downturn exhaust tip that you are missing, there is a good possibility that you also have fiberglass damage on the rear cap near where that exhaust pipe should exit the coach...Hope not.

Sorry,

it is the chrome downturn tip, so far no damage to the rear cap.

You are lucky and that suggests that you lost it not long ago, as most people who lose theirs and know when they found it gone, have found that they have melted or blistered their rear cap fiberglass, so if yours is not distorted (and the paint not distorted), you are lucky in this case.

There has been a thread on here in the last 2 months that talked about exactly this same problem. I didnt pay attention to what manufacturers of replacement pipes were recommended. I know they are available from Entegra, and I think I remember that someone suggested a big rig chrome shop for downturn tips but I dont remember which one. I am sure that someone will help you find the thread on here earlier, or will have recommendations for you. I used to recommend that people buy the same manufacturer we buy for replacement Onan and AquaHot downturn pipes which is Gibson. They make stainless products, but their version of the downturn pipe would turn bronze with the very high temps that are encountered with our Cummins exhausts (which reach 700 degrees in regen or some highway speeds and pulls). So, stay away from Gipson.

Luckily, that is one problem I have not had.

Make sure that you find a downturn pipe that either has a positive lock or someway to keep it from falling off again.... with some pipes, you drill a hole through it and the engine pipe and lock it on so it cant fall off.... I assume that the heating and cooling cycles cause things to loosen and off they go.

well I ordered the chrome tip from spartan today and the bracket, should be here by Monday.

I looked at where the SCR Sensor is and it is accessible from the rear compartment where the engine batteries are, there is an opening that a hand can fit through and you can see the sensor on top the the SCR, so I do not see a reason why freight liner said that they had to drop the SCR to a tune of 5 hours labor.

Any thoughts?

DIY rates vs shop rates Many items I can fix, change, or service faster than it takes to drive to a service center. Almost anything on "how to do it" can be found on YouTube or here on this forum.

Suzanne:

If you tackle the SCR sensor project yourself, please take a bunch of pix and notes on what was involved and post it up here for the rest of us that might run into this same problem in the future.

Good luck. As an aside, what did the downturn tip cost in round dollars?

Do you have your ESN? (Engine serial number?) I'd like to check something out.

Greetings Entegra family and Happy Thanksgiving. Update on my check engine light, for the holiday weekend, I decided to go to the Hollywood Casino in Bay St Louis. My check engine light went out, is there a chance that it may come back on?

Hope all have a safe and great Thanksgiving.

Sounds like the highway run took care of the regen problem. Should not come back if there's no more short idling
