Engine Preheat Loop Valves

I have a small spray of engine coolant behind my Aquahot - started when I had all the pumps changed on the Aquahot so it's probably just a hose clamp leak associated with the engine preheat pump.

Until I can get around to fixing that leak - anyone know a reason why I shouldn't run a couple of thousand miles with the two hand valves on that loop closed off (the ones near the drivers side of the engine)?

I will likely never need to preheat the engine and don't care if the AQH is not hot after a travel day.

I have a call in to Customer Service but will appreciate any experience here. Thanks!

That will work but it's almost easier to get to the clamps on the back side of the AH than the shut off valves

Ha. Unloading my basement will be the hardest part! Already closed the valves, just want to make sure it's OK to run that way. CS called back and said OK also. Thanks!

I have run mine for 26000 mi and have never had my valves open, always keep them closed because water puts too much pressure on hoses to aqua hot.

Thanks Hobart22. I think I'll try to ID the clamped connection that's leaking and tighten it and then just leave those valves closed too unless my needs change.

Ron, did your AH have the engine coolant line clamps changed to screw clamps where they connect to the AH? It was a recall on the Cornerstones, but the Anthems were on there own to do the update. A lot of Classics had leaks or complete loss of fluid from the cheap spring clamps.

I inspected it when I first got it based on seeing all that here. They were all the proper style clamp with two or three QC marks on each one. I'll be stunned if I find the wrong style after the pump was changed at Middlebury, but that'll sure be part of my inspection when I can get in there and get that carpet panel out. Thanks for the reminder.
