I have a 2013 Aspire. l like it, but it was I could afford w kid in college. I would've bought the Anthem if I could have afforded it. Reasons: Diesel Aqua Hot, Independent Front Suspension, nicer finishes, nicer awnings, nicer shower/bath, electric compartment locks....

Depending on your negotiating skills and some 2013s left with 2014s not on the lots yet. I think an Anthem is about 45k - 60k more than a Aspire. The listed difference is much higher. I can get by without IFS but if I was buying my "last" RV I'd prefer to have it. My solid axle drives with a tag drives much better than my previous Monaco single axle 40 ft so IFS would be a notch above this. IMO

For us, some upgrades in the interior that the DW liked (tile showers and the like). For me, I didn't want to mess with LP. I really liked the all electric. I haven't driven the solid front axle, but the IFS drives very, very well.

In the end, the additional $s were worth it for us.

Budget was a consideration for us - and that I prefer cooking with gas. Our last coach had a diesel Aqua-Hot, we were hoping that the LP version would burn a little cleaner and not provide us with diesel fumes when we were enjoying our campsite. I liked the shower in the Anthem better, the tile floor in the Aspire. The tag drives so much better than our old single axle that IFS wasn't a factor. We loved the electric locks on the bays but then saw so many postings on their failings that we decided we probably wouldn't use them anyway. In the end, money was the biggest factor. We just couldn't justify spending the extra $$ for the Anthem. If we had been going to full-time in the coach, it might have been a different conversation for us. You won't regret either one.

More Aspire vs Anthem

As Goldie described I hadn't thought some folks would prefer the LP Aqua Hot over the diesel version for any reason but I didn't think about fumes. This was my first Aqua Hot/Hydro heater, so I had no comparison. The diesel version has a higher BTU output and can heat better in cold climates and I think would be better for mountain RVing or skiing. The diesel version does require more maintenance, so life has it's trade offs. My DW and I didn't really see the bang vs buck on the Anthem interiors (except the shower, which is nicer in the Anthem). We didn't care about electric shades, but I must admit the awning on the Anthem is nicer.

It all boils down to bucks. We figured buy an Aspire and then have 50k in diesel fuel.

We went Aspire due to: money, we wanted to cook with gas, I thought the LP Aquahot would be more pleasant around the camp, I did NOT want the electric shades or bay door locks. We did opt for the IFS since it happened to be available when we ordered.

We also went with the ASPIRE.....a very late model 2013 with most of the upgrades incorporated in the 2014s. We don't anticipate winter cold conditions that would require the higher heat output of a diesel Aqua Hot, and the LP exhaust in not noxious. I carry a gen-turi for dry camping rallys, but don't have to get a second one for the AH:... dance. I was unaware of any option for IFS in the Aspire, and will inquire with Spartan when I go to Spartan Camp in July....

We think this is our last coach...its got everything we wanted. If we do anything more, it will probably be in Modifications to this coach. After 10 years or so, we might want to change furniture. But I DON'T see the value in the Anthem since its heavier and on the same chassis, same powerplant, and same tranny. Ive got saved cash that will take us more places.....(fixed income).

Now the Cornerstone is a different animal, and there is value in stepping up to that if budget is not an issue....but who knows....maybe I'll win the lottery.

Until the, we are just as happy as can be with our Aspire DEQ.

Too funny! yeah....said that on the Phaeton, too. I'm terribly impressed with this coach. The DEQ has the L-shaped couch and fireplace.....a Living Room & Kitchen/Nook...
It just FEELS like home!
